NareshK Posted March 17, 2015 Author Posted March 17, 2015 Some people need to stop being naive here. Whether we like it or not, certain things carry negative connotations in certain societies. Being fair skinned has always been considered attractive to people in India(for a number of reasons), hence the heavy use of fairness creams, bleaching skin, avoiding spending time in the sun and preference of fair skinned partners. Being dark skinned is not desirable. Therefore, some people dont like it when others refer to their dark skin. Simple as that. Its just something that exists in people's mindset and wont change anytime soon.
Book_Worm Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 But white people are white and black people are black. Calling South Indians as dark skinned is a stereotype and a generalization as all South Indians are not dark skinned. Know the difference. There are lots of dark skinned people in North states as well. Would you be fine if some white person calls all North Indians as dark skinned ? Majority of north indians are dark skinned but they like to think they are fair.feel sorry for them such inferiority complex.Sometimes i think they suffer from some kind of eye disease where they cannot see their own dark skin color.

Overwhelming majority of South Indians are dark skinned and have Dravidian features and most of them are darker than so called blacks (African Americans). Majority of North and North-West Indians are light-skinned. The minority of Dark skinned people in the North (mostly in the East) have Dravidian (ASI) ancestry.

So yes' date=' you call them dark-skinned, because they are.[/quote'] Why are rural Biharis and Bengalis darker on average? Dravidian-Aryan race theory is BS. Dont ever believe it. If generations of North Indians lived in south India, they would have the skin tone of South Indians and vice verse.

Biharies and Bengalis are darker on average because they have Dravidian / ASI ancestry.

Typical northie south indian
Yamaha Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 Must be a dravidian northie. Typical northie south indian I'm talking about the average person here, and you're posting pictures of the exceptions. Does the average South Indian look like Maran (or whoever)? No. Does the average North Indian look like Lalit Modi? No. Also, it's not just about the skin color but also the facial features, where North and South Indians differ drastically.

But you are not at fault. Aryan-dravidian theory is fed into us (both in South and North) from the society.

Yes an average north indian looks like lalit modi to me. I have met many many of them who look like this. about features i am telugu and people from my community have sharp features and are taller in general. If yadav comes to hyderabad he will find more fair skinned people here then in his bihar. i saw a indian travel show where they showed delhi and the people on street/in parks etc were dark skinned.when michelle obama visited a school in punjab all the school girls looked no different than south indians. When Aamir visited a school in gujrat there was only one fair skinned girl in whole class. If you watch cricket, people in stadiums in delhi and other north indian state don't look like what north indians are supposed to look like more like what people expect south indians to look like. The population of fair skinned people may be higher in north than in south.but the majority of people are dark skinned than light in north also. north indians dont seem to understand a simple concept that races have been mixing for centuries.South india is a heavily mixed. There are plently of north indians who are darker than african americans. Also sunlight does affect your skin tone.
Yamaha Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 Yes an average north indian looks like lalit modi to me. Then you need to get your eyes checked. And by North, I'm strictly referring to the Northern region of India including Punjab, Kashmir, Rajasthan, Haryana, Delhi, Uttarakhand etc. About features i am telugu and people from my community have sharp features and are taller in general. Okay :hysterical:
vvvslaxman Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 Now you're comparing racial slurs to skin color. Do white people get offended when they're called white? Nope. Do black people get offended when they're called black? Nope. So why South Indians get offended when they're called dark-skinned? Your reply is your answer to your question.
Temujin Khaghan Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 i think only turkey and westwards uzbekistan and northwards are caucasians according to europeans? rest are all various shades of brown...
Detonator Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 Your reply is your answer to your question. He must be sheamus :giggle:
Temujin Khaghan Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 i dont think any south indians get hurt because they are darker. many tamilians i know hardly have inferiority complex over their colour. its mostly arrogance from some northies (not all, some) when they make disparaging statements equating beauty with colour that people will feel bad. in this regard, westerners are far more careful while making reference to other people's skin tone. i think a western person is less likely to hurt a southie than an indian northie. basically indian guys are casually racist (making crude disparaging jokes) and indian women are closet racists (they dont make jokes about black people, but they look down on them as inferior) . also one thing i never understood and this applies to all indian and pakistani women is that why they dont like black guys (african origin).but for some reason indian and pakistani women look down on african american actors etc... this is one example of indian women's attitude towards african men Talking to Nithin Sethi of Glamsham about her film Golmaal, Rimi Sen, said: "I play a sweet and beautiful girl in the film. The best thing that I like about the film is that though it has four heroes, I am the only heroine. Rohit Shetty is amazing as a director. He can make even a black African look pretty."

Very very true.. But i am not sure about the second part though lol Richards/ Courtney walsh had so many female fans as far as i can recall.
Temujin Khaghan Posted March 17, 2015 Posted March 17, 2015 check out this racist sequence in this song JdDrzVk3hMk

Richards is purely star power... so were sobers but you cant expect even a above average indian girl to fall for a smooth looking african american hunk that hot white girls would immediately spread their legs for... ??
