its always a risk putting a bowler as a captain because bowlers in general have a poor track record of playing in all the matches as batsmen do. This is the prime reason that cricket favors batsmen as captain, despite the fact that the biggest aspect of captaincy in the game is managing the bowlers, rotating the bowling and field placements- all aspects where bowlers are intrinsically more in tune and better at it than batsmen.
