Pioneer Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 I have a friend who is the other way around. He is Pakistani and lived most of his early life in dubai' date=' among pakistanis too there. Now he resides in U.S and plays for team full of pakistanis but he supports India like any die hard Indian cricket fan and also from time to time post some status of anti-pak. This is one of the reason why some of his team mates dont like him that he supports India and at same time bash pak cricketers.[/quote'] Damn, thats as rare as an Afridi 100
CG Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 I am not NRI. I know your affection for them. But I m not. In Pak vs SA game, those who know Mumbai, there is a place called beharambaug. Let's just say we had great celebrations after last wicket. Still say, for me, it's non issue. This country is work in progress. But One can't afford to be in denial like you folks. Thats true There are pockets mostly uneducated muslims ,You see packets of biryani being distributed after pak won the t20 wc.Crackers are routine.Allthough few people tarnish an area. Regarding Afridi i know many kids bar religion who like his batting style ,in the end of the day everybody likes Guy who can put the ball in stands.
Raghav_12 Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 I have also started 30 other threads' date=' many of them recently about other topics w.r.t cricket, non political chit chat and other sports. This selective nit picking doesn't look good coming out from a veteran poster like you. Let us debate the points raised and not indulge in [b']personal attacks/sarcastic overtones. Regarding this topic I could post FB links of profiles of some of my friends and their friends and their likes/dislikes/preferences and it would shock most of you, but I don't want to embarrass them. If you have an FB account dig a bit deep and you will understand what I am saying and that this thread isn't some joke/propaganda. There were no personal attacks. Is saying that from your posts, you seem to be obsessed with single agenda is personal attack? Sarcasm is very accepted way of writing/commenting. So be ready to take that. Somebody's preference of cricket team or cricketers is not going to shock a mature person. You need to calm down.
nikred Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 Many of my hyderabadi Muslim friends tend to have relatives living in Pakistan. Some of them tend to have a soft corner for Pakistanis and Pakistan team. Then there are couple of them who despise Pakistanis on personal level and in turn also the team. They find them uncivilised and untrustworthy, not my words it's their's. I always had good experience with Pakistanis. Sent from my LG-D802 using Tapatalk
Sidhoni Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 used to think the same. But it is not so.(only in a particular state) Well I say so from personal experience having lived in Bhopal which is one of the cities with higher Muslim population.
Guldozer Posted April 10, 2015 Posted April 10, 2015 I think you can expect some Indian Muslims to be vocal against Pakistan since some people may question their loyalty towards India.
Vilander Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 OP 1, You are pakistani. 2, No Indian mulsims do not like Afridi, and do not generally look up to 'fair' skinned pashtuns. 3, Indians do not look up to pakistanis they infact look down at them often. There is no leverage that pakistan can have over India, India is too big and mighty and your country too puny.
Vilander Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 I think you can expect some Indian Muslims to be vocal against Pakistan since some people may question their loyalty towards India. Indian Muslims are generally disgusted with Pakistan because they make Muslims look bad in general.
Vilander Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 Pakistani Hindu or Muslim? You thought it was a Hindu dint you ?. This shows why you think Indian Muslims would show superficial negative feeling for pak in order to be accepted in India, you think all Muslims support pak and all Hindus support India. You would appear religious and bigoted to some i might add.
Guldozer Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 You thought it was a Hindu dint you ?. Guldozer Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 Indian Muslims are generally disgusted with Pakistan because they make Muslims look bad in general. Yes all 180 million of us make them look bad. All Indian Muslims are saints.
KhanSaab Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015 Not only do Indian muslims need to visibly show their support for India but also need to visibly show their hatred of Pakistan in order to placate some true deshvaasis. And often even that is not enough.

And often even that is not enough. I thought so too, till the time i heard about a version from a hydrabadi muslim aquaintance who had his family member die in mumbai, he hates pakistan to their guts says much of his family does. I think there is a definitive trend now post 26/11 they dislike Indian Hindus, but hate Pakistanis.. Its ironic like what we have done with Kashmiris, they dislike Pakistanis but we have made them hate us with our policing forces there.
Guldozer Posted April 12, 2015 Posted April 12, 2015  If that helps you sleep better at night.

We? Brother Ravi has finally seen light, and accepted the only true faith. :two_thumbs_up: :yay: Allah be praised.

Mariyam Posted April 15, 2015 Posted April 15, 2015 I didn't see any bashing. I have no clue if you have ever been to or lived in India but there are pockets which support Pakistan team. All of is growing up in Mumbai saw crackers bursting after Pak win in certain areas. It is still a non issue for me. But sticking the head in the sand is not the way. For quite a few years, I've stayed at Byculla (Agripada). You'd have the occasional crackers bursting on a Pakistan win. But there would be infinite crackers bursting even before a likely Indian win and well into the night. The night India beat Pakistan at Mohali in 2011, the Haji Ali Juice centre handed out free phirnis to all and sundry. And the owners of the Juice centre are also one of the trustees of the Haji Ali Dargah. And lets just say that the trust there isn't very open minded. They are the ones who have been fighting tooth and nail to not permit women into the inner chamber of the mazhar. Point being, contrary to popular belief, even the Orthodox and rigid could be 'patriotic'. Or at least moved/elated by an Indian win. For me it is not a non issue. I would find it quite provocative if I were a non Muslim Indian. Its not just about supporting another cricket team (no matter how good or bad they are). If it were just about supporting the Pakistani cricket team its not an issue. But you would see behavior like riding bikes along the highway shouting Islamic slogans. Ons ome rare occasions, uttering even Pro Pakistani slogans and anti India slogans. As if its a victory for Islam over Hinduism/secularism. That is a very regressive mindset and provocative behaviour. This is the mindset of someone who has nothing but animosity for the other. And it does provoke people into reacting and beating these people up/rioting. We are all basically a stupid people. :((
