Part of the reason is that many South Asians have been brainwashed into believing that "western anything" = "naturally better", that the western tradition, way of speaking, exposition, pronunciation, etc are also all better by the simple virtue of their being western. So when making a general statement like that, it would be best to look at yourselves first, your sense of self confidence and self worth.

everyone tries to imitate tony Greig's sense of awe and grandeur. they all try to imitate the same style of bursting out everytime a wicket falls or a boundary is hit. Arun lal tried to carve a niche for himself as an envirnomentalist-cricket commentator. but the maximum he could get were vultures and "beautiful" crows. he got severely trolled by sachin at a presentation ceremony where he enquired whats going on in sach's mind since everyone were discussing in the morning about his future. sachin said that he doesnt care about what XYZ think about him. :D sivaramakrishnan confirms the South Indian stereotype by being meek and poorly dressed. I have no doubt that the producers don't want silence. What I'm not buying is Harsha's claim that he talks non stop because the producers want him to. Harsha is too big to be fired from ESPN-Star. If he really believed could be a better commentator by speaking less, I think he would do that, regardless of what the producers tell him. No one Indian commentator is too big to be fired, but Harsha can certainly call the shots.

He won't get fired but it is more they get paid. So a cut down on time on screen or payment in next contract while citing differing reasons. It is not only Harsha, he said all commentators are told to do the same. The days of Richie, Tony, Brian Johnson, Alan Mcgilvray, Bill and non senile Chappelli are long gone.

Desi commentators try too hard. They try to use and make their own english to impress the public. Following comments suggest they are trying to impress and are trying too hard to sound English. Comments like "Furniture is disturbed" just indigate that commentators aren't keeping it simple. This is just bull shyt comment. Just do your thing.

more than ganguly and dravid being good commies, we like them becoz we have a spot soft for them as we grew watching them play. VVS had to really **** up sometimes with his weird pronunciation to make us crack up. but then again, he has improved a lot so all the best to him. if we observe as neutral viewers, dravid is quite dry and diplomatic while ganguly is a little better, though awkward at times.
