gattaca Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 At the very least there needs to be more transparency. Better communication on the problems. Not many of the admins are active. Especially the founders. That is natural. There also needs to be a discussion on finances. Ie how much it takes to run this operation. How much it takes to run this place. I would say about $200 a month considering the membership (advertising does bring in the cash ets ) and viewers etc. There needs to be an option to donate money for those who want to. I await to be corrected if I am wrong. But i dont think its fair on the owner to pick up the tab if this place is losing money (as i suspect) those who want/can to chip in should be able to. Talk is cheap. But knowing how much something costs is free. ICF IMO has reached critical mass. I agree with most of your points. I tried ICf Twitter and fb don't remember seeing an update. Atleast if we can get updates that will be helpful.
gattaca Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 Also I don't know how much icf makes but below shows a good estimate. http://www.netvaluator.com/www/indiancricketfans.com Checked padosi site as well it's 300$ worth. Lol
BlueBee Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 How rude. Nothing rude in that. It takes around 600-1000$ to maintain an online forum. We're getting this for free without paying nothing. We should really be grateful.
G_B_ Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 Let ICF be a forum where cricketing enthusiasts can vent and share various things. But lets keep our distance from the actual reporting and crucially the players. In the coming months with the spread of the internet in India and a growth in the global NRI community i feel there will be a substantial leap in numbers of users. ICF needs to be prepared for the same.
Malcolm Merlyn Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 I agree with most of your points. I tried ICf Twitter and fb don't remember seeing an update. Atleast if we can get updates that will be helpful. We were on FB all the time.
gattaca Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 We were on FB all the time. I used below site. The last update was 2012. https://m.facebook.com/ICFans?tsid=0.8515514764003456&source=typeahead
Texan Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 Some of the criticism here is pretty harsh. The admins of this site are perhaps sustaining this as an investment to be sold in the future. I can't remember seeing any ads here, so it is probably not making any money currently. Overall, when it is functioning, the site has pretty good response times and never introduces any adware/spyware to your devices.

A forum of this magnitude could do better and that's the point. Just noticed a feedback thread, so they obviously do encourage user input. Suggestions shouldn't make anyone angry as long as they are not being thrown around in a bitter way.

Suggestions shouldn't make anyone angry as long as they are not being thrown around in a bitter way. Feedback is ofcourse encouraged... However look at your tone of "feedback" or the "valuable input": This forum has the numbers' date=' but the way it is being handled is pathetic. Absolutely no taste in design aspect and the site owner lacks vision/motivation.[/quote']
swatpulla Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 Feedback is ofcourse encouraged... However look at your tone of "feedback" or the "valuable input": I concede that I sounded way too harsh. I should work on sounding bit more pleasant than that.
PBN Posted May 8, 2015 Posted May 8, 2015 It's about perspective. Take ICF as a casual meeting place like when friends get together for small talk. It's not like a hospital that needs to be open 24x7 and provide the fastest support. Plus, probably not too healthy to be on ICF 24x7 anyways. A few days off ICF isn't going to hurt anyone. Just need to make is self sufficient wrt to server costs via ads. Donations are not likely accepted as it will be tricky banning those that have donated and it might create a case of users saying I donated so much...etc. Though gotta say the people in charge have probably gotten a little bored. Could use a little bit of new energy wrt to updating the VB software and start from beginning :two_thumbs_up: Also like mentioned above, ICF could use a from a little bit transparency/communication to clarify and update announcements. i.e what happened in this case...most don't know what happened :bigboss:
beetle Posted May 9, 2015 Posted May 9, 2015 You guys are demanding as if you are paid members of this forum... Be grateful to whatever is available and enjoy... I'm sure the Admins try their best to maintain the forum in whatever time they can devote... These website do take time, sometimes, to resolve technical issues... There's another site (IDF - Indian Defence Forum) which is down for technical issues for many days now....things happen... Don't be a demanding member... Even paid members don't complain as much as you guys do... Don't like it then you are free to feck off from here... This website is vintage class website that runs purely on passion for the game. Most people(mods and admins) put in their time and some their money for just the passion of the game. I like it like this...... If it stays down for a few days....go finish your pending work guys... This is not your main job...it is like a hobby...you can live without t for some tme. Cheers!!!!:drinks:
