Well in my opinion great player does not equal to a great coach. Though the opinion of a great cricketer holds more value than the opinion of a great coach.
Marut Posted May 7, 2015 Posted May 7, 2015 The exceptionally talented rarely make good coaches - my theory would be that this is because you can't really translate or teach exceptional talent. Either you have it your do don't. The training and strategy that the average player needs should be based on average player abilities rather than 1-in-a-million talent. Yes, especially if they are inexperienced. The naturally gifted ones and the ones that try to go up in life through sheer hardwork and commitment need different training regimens. The former will thrive well under coaches who were naturally gifted while the latter would thrive well under other coaches. Experienced coaches know these differences well enough to take care of all kinds of requirements.
