But I do agree with you on not skipping the test match. He is more likely going to inherit the captaincy job full-time as it seems so miss the odi but be there for the test match.

Also, if we consider "batting out in the middle" as a metric Rahane has probably played more balls than Kohli in the last year, considering that he has faced a lot more balls in test cricket. Especially on the tour of England in the last year when Kohli had a limited stay at the crease. In the current IPL as well Rahane has faced more balls than Kohli.

He too just like Virat is a regular in all formats for his nation and does also play on a frequent basis for his county side yorkshire. somebody should compile some numbers, cause the feeling I get is English cricketers do play more cricket overall through the year then their Indian counter parts. They also appear to be a lot more physically fitter than their Indian counterparts. Especially somebody like Anderson who by my estimates bowls a lot more overs of competitive cricket than Bhuvi Ishant etc.

Just to prove your point wrong , here are the stats: over the last one year (between jan 14 and Jan 15):Kohli and Rahane played 11 tests : Kohli scored 1040 runs @49.52 and faced 1724 balls Rahane scored 860 runs @45.26 and faced 1467 balls In ODIS and T20s also Kohli scored more runs and faced more balls than Rahane... TBH I am averse to getting into such stats but I wanted to make a point that Kohli along with Rahane have been the most busy players over the last year and they deserve some rest before the important series ahead....Knowing bangladesh's test record, I believe we can have it easy against them even without Kohli and some others..
