why was a full strength squad selected for the Bangladesh tour

I have been hoping a second string would tour and Bangladesh would give India a drubbing. But seems like now Bangladesh will be whitewashed. BUt still dont why India is taking Bangladesh so seriously. How things have changed. Never in my life thought India would not rest a single player after a long international season and IPL. Is it the rise of Bangladesh and effect of the Banglawash that was handed to Pakistan or India just dont trust their bench strength against minnows.

India sent full squad for tests even when they played their first test lol. Doesn't mean they were rising. Typically Karnatka team is enough to smash you in Tests. But may be BCCI for commercial reasons included star players. Nothing to do with Bangladesh.

For ODIs, your series with Pakistan probably influenced the decision. If by some chance we send a younger team and lose, that would be a very major loss (especially since now Bangladesh looks capable of beating India A/B in ODIs, and since ODIs are very unpredictable). I don't understand the logic of sending a full strength team in tests. It will be a flat pitch and batsman on the bench are capable of batting for 2 days. I don't think they would have trouble drawing out the test. They should have sent India A batsman and our main bowlers for the tests.

Bangladesh is one of the best teams of ODI history. Its an honor playing against them. No player would like to miss such a great opportunity to play with the best players.

Hope BD don't do the same mistake and announce a second string squad against India. Lets see what happens... :--D
Your first string itself is fourth string in many countries lol

For you then ranked 3 NZ of 2010 were minnows. Ranked 7 PAK is minnow (when PAK came) Ranked 6 WES of 2013 when they lose a series 3-2 were minnows We performed so good in 2012-2013 two years. Suddenly 2014 bad season people forgot all. I am 100% sure if BD done well in 2015 even in 2016. And suddenly a defeat VS ZIM in 2017 all Indians will be saying all successes were fluk. I mean back in mid 2000s it was OK that we used to win 1/2 games playing 2 series VS Big nations. But now manage to whitewash them. Still...

Funny how for WI and NZ you use their current ranking while for Pak you use their old rankings  I just hope India plays to its potential so that you guys get a thrashing to bring you back down to earth.

Forget about whitewash, even a series win against top 3 nation would prove the real credibility.

NZ were ranked 3/4 team in mid 2010. They just had few great series then. Their downfall mainly started with the whitewash against us. Which remain in 2013 too when they became no.9. Whatever they bounce back since and now just finished a successfull WC. And in 2009 WES B played so I am not counting those win. But in 2011/12 we almost win the series VS Top WES team. Finally in 2013 we defeat them 3-2. Then they were no.7 or 6 ranked team. UNDERSTOOD :haha::haha::haha:

Why would the former world champions get effected by the loss of an ODI minnow against Bangladesh. :winky: Now drawing out the test would be badd, wouldnt it be?

Bangladesh can't win a match against India Z squad. Don't know what OP is smoking.
True, Bangladesh never has beaten a Deplated India. 2007 & 2012 we won, were against the best possible teams of India with Sachin to every big names of Indian cricket in it... The team for this series is the main eleven too... Had this been a Deplated Indian team, I wouldn't feel much confident... :) Now don't misinterpret it, the reason it's so, it's easy to work out the positives and negatives of the known players, unknown players are generally a puzzle for not so matured teams like Bangladesh. Hope they will learn to handle them better with more experience... ;-)

I think there were days when Bangladesh puzzled top nations because no one really cared about matches against them and took them for granted. But now, teams will actually start putting some effort from the start, making things harder for Bangladesh.

Winning this series has much more value than winning a series in Aus or SA or even the world cup. We are up against the best the whole solar system has ever seen. How can we not choose a full strength squad :dontknow:
