No Kohli didn't out bat Rahane in New Zealand .Rahane scored runs when it matter whereas the Kohli 100 came when the series was over on a flat wkt . Rahane was better than Kohli in the New Zealand tour .
Rahane's century and Kohli's century were in the same match on the same pitch (http://www.espncricinfo.com/new-zealand-v-india-2014/engine/match/667653.html) after losing the first match... Although Rahane's century was in the first innings giving us a chance to draw the series by winning the second test. But if Kohli wouldn't have made his century we could have potentially collapsed (this is a large risk considering our tendancy to collapse very often) and lost the series 2-0. Kohli also made a half-century in the first test, even though it was in a losing cause.

I think both scored hunderd in a same match... Kohli's knock was not as good as rahane but it wasn't worthless anyway..Surely it was over for India but Whitewash was still on the card. We are synonymous of "collapse" in tests for last few years regardless nature of the pitch..India couldn't even face 50 overs in England in 2-3 innings. So it wasn't useless knock when he batted for almost 50 overs with Nohit to draw the match!!
It was on a wicket that has flattened out and Maccullum scored 300 on it .Yes it a decent knock initially but after the initial 30-40 runs the only interest in that match was whether Kohli will score 100.The end result was never in question in the latter part

To me he is the best test match batsman in NZL at this moment. Has better average than Taylor and McCullum, has better ratio of 100's to innings played when compared with Taylor and McCullum. I certainly don't underrate him at all.

Invasion please tell me you are joking. Rahane has played 13/14 tests in RSA,NZ,Eng,Aus while Selfie has played all his matches in the flat and familiar decks of UAE and Lanka(where he failed BTW). Rahane in spite of getting 7/8 wrong decisions in the 25 odd innings has a mighty impressive average of 49 in these countries with centuries in Eng,NZ,Aus and 96 in Jo'berg. How many Asian bats do you know who in their very 1st trip to these countries scored 100s in 3/4 countries?(I can think of only Sachin,Anwar,Sehwag who did this and Rahane has been even more consistent than these 3). Pakistan hasn't toured these countries in a long time and when they do you will understand why Shehzad's stats are so misleading, expect it to take a beating when that time comes. Even in the Pakistani line up he is the 6th best batsman behind YK,Misbah,Azhar,Shafiq and Sarfraz. Shafiq and Azhar are the next mainstays in your batting order, not Selfie who is a class below the above two. Comparing him to the best Asian youngsta beauty :winky:,Ajinkya is preposterous !!!
LOL. I am not kidding. He has played a grand total of 1 match in Sri lana where you called him a failure. And he scored 58 in first innings fyi. There is no doubt that Rahane has played more away matches than Shehzad but Shehzad was scoring centuries albeit in LOIs in 2009/10 when he went to Nwzlnd etc. So, just judging on that my hunch is that he will outperform rahane in away conditions as well. That is of course for you and me to see and we will know that soon next year during Pakistan's away tours. In my opinion, Willamson > Kohli > Shehzad > Rahane. And you are absolutely wrong about him being 6th best test batsman. No one in Pakistan rates azhar or asad. Look up stats if you have any doubts.

I was checking Rahane's stats and out of the 13/14 away matches he has played he has only crossed a total of hundred runs (including both innings) only 4 times and that is actually a quite low benchmark. 28 per cent. Very poor stats for someone being claimed to be some away GOD in cricket. :hysterical:

Thats becoz he comes in at 5 or 6 and bats with the tail and regularly received horrible umpiring calls which most Indian fans who watched the matches know that tbh Lords MCG and Adelaide the 3 bad ones he got from what I can remember .There were a couple more bad umpiring decisions as well .

Just take Aus tour for example Scores 62 in first innings and gets horrible decision in 2nd innings on 0 81 in first innings and 10 in second innings 147 (Another awful umpire decision) and 48 in MCG 13(another awful umpire decison) and match saving 38*

You cant blame the batting position. Indian batting goes deep. Also, you cant blame the umpires when you guys side with the same board which opposes DRS. If we start blaming umpires then that will just dig up a whole mountain. The point is that Rahane is excellent but is being criminally over-rated by some icfers when he has poor stats for an Away GOD as he is being made out to be.

Kohli was caught behind in the 2nd test 2nd innings but given not out (when he was under 10 if my memory is correct). Extremely lucky unlike poor Rahane, and that was a worthless stat boosting 100 just like most of Sachin's 100s.

2 matches with scores of 4,16,58,8 averaging 21.5 !!! http://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/player/259410.html?class=1;template=results;type=allround;view=match

U can blame BCCI for all u want that is a moot point .Fact is he has too many rough decisions in his short career .So the stats isn't reflective of his contribution .That's why Indian fans rate him so high .He still ave 50 despite all these bad decisions and has stood up and scored when the conditions where tough Our tail overseas is one of the worst 7th in terms of contributions outside Asia in last 4 years.

But human errors are a part of the game. Many centuries involve getting 1-2 extra lives. So let me get this straight - a century in a first innings where the match is drawn is good, but a century in the second innings where the match is drawn is worthless? That is some crooked thinking. If it weren't for Kohli's century, there was a possibility that we could have lost the match. Anyway we are comparing their ability to bat overseas, not their ability to produce influential innings.

Its not a moot point if its effecting its players. I can say the same thing about many players. Dont blame umpires as first line of defence for rahane. That weakens the argument. He is good. He really is. Not a single qualm over that. But he is good in the indian team not worldwide which we are discussing. Players like Shehzad, Amla, root, smith etc. are better than him.

Shehzad and worldwide??? Now you are exaggerating.. That guy is not even his test team now.Now don't put a point of he is getting punishment about attitude and arrogance with coach.. Shehzad has not even play a test match outside Asia. Rahane is far better than him in tests.Shehzad is in competiton with Gary ballance for me!!

Sorry. But after looking at stats,he is not even in competiton with ballance. Both have piled up runs at home. Ballance is better than Shehzad. :D:D:D:D:D
