South Africa will play four Tests, five One-Day Internationals and three Twenty20 Internationals during their tour of India in October-November 2015, with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), announcing the venues for all matches after a meeting of the Tours and Fixtures Committee in Kolkata on Sunday (May 24). The four Test matches will take place in Ahmedabad, Delhi, Nagpur and Bangalore, while the ODIs will be held in Chennai, Kanpur, Rajkot and Mumbai, with the Madhya Pradesh Cricket Association (MPCA) to host the fifth match. An MPCA official confirmed to Wisden India that the match would be held at either Indore or Gwalior, but the final venue hadn’t been decided on yet. The last two ODIs at MPCA venues both had historic double centuries. At the Captain Roop Singh Stadium in Gwalior when South Africa toured in 2010, Sachin Tendulkar memorably hit the first ODI double-century, an unbeaten 200 off 147 balls. Then, at the Holkar Stadium in Indore in 2011, Virender Sehwag went one better, smashing a 149-ball 219 against West Indies to set the record for the then highest individual score in the format – the innings was of such a belligerent nature that he reached the landmark in just the 44th over. Both venues haven’t hosted international matches since. Nagpur is also set to host an international match after a considerable gap. The last international at the Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadiumwas an ODI between India and Australia in October 2013, when Dhawan and Virat Kohli both scored centuries in a high-scoring thriller against Australia. The last Test match at the venue was in December 2012, a painstaking draw between India and England in the fourth and final match of the series. Meanwhile, Kanpur will be hosting its first ODI in nearly two years, following West Indies’ visit in November 2013 when Shikhar Dhawan scored a fine century. The three T20Is will be played in Kolkata, Mohali and Dharamsala. The BCCI also finalised on the venues for the three T20Is that India are scheduled to play against Sri Lanka in February 2016 – as part of the build-up towards the World Twenty20 later that year – with Visakhapatnam, Pune and Delhi chosen. The sequence in which the matches will be played for both series and the detailed itineraries will be announced later.

How does a Tier 3 City /Town like Nagpur keeps getting matches alloted on a regular basis? that too test matches. imo Tests should be alloted only to Mohali, Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Bangalore. again they have ignored the northeast. could have alloted a match to Guwahati.

Exactly we need specialized test centres. In addition to the 7 centers you proposed may I add Green Park,Kanpur which has a glorious history as far as hosting Indian test matches is concerned. Ahmedabad too is a good center especially the proposed revamped 1.2 lakh seater at Motera (Amit Shah has promised to make it the world's biggest stadium). Nagpur is a disgrace, it is so far away from the city that even if they want to spectators can't make their way to watch a cricket match on a searing hot day traveling 50-60 kms. On one of the days during the 4th test,Ind vs Aus at Nagpur in 2008 the attendance was a staggering 250 people !!!Nagpur has got too many matches since Pawar entered the game in mid 2000s. BCCI doesn't seem to care about spreading the game to North East which is a shame because N.E folk are genetically amongst the most athletic people in this part of the world. Check out our Olympic contingent and see the number of N.E athletes, much higher than their proportion of our population.
