Yes' date=' the AVERAGE case safety for a woman (and even a man) is more in the US than in India.[/quote'] How else would you support the claim that the average case safety for a person is more in the US? It's not that I believe otherwise, but how can you be sure unless you look at the numbers?

Most Indians living in USA have never ventured into the hinterland for more than a few hours which usually is in the form of a stopover (flight or a drive). Major reason why they think everything is hunky dory. Although' date=' even if they experienced anything unpleasant first hand or became aware through their social circle, they will simply skirt around - part and parcel of being gungadeens and mercenaries.[/quote'] :hysterical::hysterical:

The moment you use data - you are looking at macro indicators. Lets get our head out of the sand.
The only time i felt threatened in India is when a policeman approaches me. I live in UK and dont feel it safe to go out at night. The difference is, In India I/everyone feel secure because of society, System is secondry. In West, System is primarily responsible for your safety, else few teens will beat you to ICU cos they felt like beating someone today and society wont intervene cos they are afraid of system

This discussion is NOT about you or me. Everything that applies to me doesn't generalize to the real world.

Someone should try and use London tube on New Year's eve and they will come to India for 'safety'.
Someone should try and hang around Gateway of India, Mumbai or New Delhi during NYE and they might never be able to go anywhere for 'safety'. These extreme examples could be given both ways.

So you think the Nirbhaya case that OP mentions is a daily occurrence and not 'extreme'? Forget London tube...go to Reading, Berkshire or Swindon in UK and just walk on pavement anytime in the year....there is 1 out of 10 probability that someone from a passing car/cab will throw an empty ( or even full ) coke can at you and hurl racist abuses. How can I tell? I stayed in UK and these places bloody 6 years and 5 yrs in US. In US, I stayed 1 year in the happy NRI places like NYC/NJ/Cali and I can understand views of people living in these sheltered cities ( where they will anyway hang around with co Indian community or a bit of office colleagues ) but I stayed 4 years also in the not so fancy places like Detroit/Dallas and interior small towns like Keywest and Ft.Myers. My US Clients ( nice elderly people - I miss them ) used to advise me to leave office by 4 PM at any cost. I have no vested interest but felt like spitting at the hypocrisy of OP.

Did you read my first post on this topic? I don't agree with the OP but 2 wrongs don't make a right.

Yes being a blog post its more like a diary penning that's also made available for public consumption that's why it sort of leaves a bad taste - as if she is pontificating. Do you primarily decide based on the opportunities back there 'cause lets face it really no contest there and am not even talking about money - just the excellent work ecosystem that they have built up that a lot of folks would be using these other things as an excuse/post-justification - since really they haven't seen much of India anyways in her case for what 10 years? Now you might get a 3rd-10th person view but its not the same whereas you been in the US first hand experiencing the life there. I would have been a bit more embracing of her view if she had managed to spend say 6-12 months here (somehow) and then had taken this view - maybe she has done that who knows. Anyway to each their own.
The most irritating part about her viewpoint being about a false hope of the homeland to rectify itself and be ready for her to come back. Society is made up of people and to change it you have to part of the solution. She is not contributing back to any place , just making immense personal wealth and not happy anywhere.

I din't earlier ( apologies ) but I did now. You say on an average woman is safe in US than India. I do not agree. Not for an Indian woman in US for sure unless she will be in a caged 8-10 family desi society in her restricted desi neighbourhood in 'safe' cities all her life in US in which case - good luck to her. She is then living in India in US and talking bullshit. Even if you remove Indian women in US ( where you are more prone for violence for obvious reasons) and go for all US women, go and look at UN data and even allow for some leeway on 'unreported' cases of sexual violence and definitions in India. Still, US is much worse than India. I still stand by my stance - there is no way an average Indian woman in US ( across US and not in a ghetto ) is more safe than an average woman across India.

Fine, in that case you agree with the OP's decision. Great! :two_thumbs_up:

She was never going to come back to India in the first place. Not that there is anything wrong with it, she doesn't need to justify her decision to anyone else. If she said, "I am not coming back as I live a comfortable life here", that would have been more believable. The piss poor excuses she provided are a joke.
