Vilander Posted June 30, 2015 Posted June 30, 2015 Chennai EMU train network is very effective but very unheralded unlike Mumbai EMU network. Frequency is good and trains are usually on time. You can reach from High Court or Marina Beach (Old Chennai) to Tirusulam (Chennai Airport) in 40-50 mins in just 10 rs. What else you can ask for? I used to take a cab when I wasn't aware of this which would cost me 400-500 and over an hour. yup, but one can see Mumbai has 5-6? lines and i think 130 stations its a different beast..with all its myraid fast trains and the traveling junta doing vegetables etc, chennai is different more in distance covered enabling commute from 80 km+ but built cheap and smaller, like the mrts line for instance its built and maintained cheap although an elevated line much before any other metro line in the country and no one knows about it, now there is talk of moving the whole mrts line to metro management to better manage it.. As a kid i used to travel from Tambaram to city to school, public transport is pretty handy in chennai but only problem is the temperature.
