1. He is better with gloves than Butler. No point in aruing over this fact. He was dropped because Butler was impressive with bat. 2. Ballance is young. Doesnt mean he should be forgotten. Yes Taylor deserves to be in there too. 3. Getting wickets because batsman want to score against you works well in odis. In tests, he is time pass bowler. Statistically he has got 7 wickets so far off six of those times batsmen have got out playing a attacking shot. 4. I dont know. Lyth isnt good enough 5. Thats where I miss KP. Promote Root above Bell. 6. Its really serious aspect. If you neutralize Anderson by pitches, There is absolutely no chance that Ali,Broad and Wood will be able to take 20 wickets.

1. No Buttler is a better keeper. Bairstow when he kept, his footwork wasn't solid and his glove work was very sketchy 2. Ballance will need to sort out his technique, it is really bad at the moment. Taylor and Bairstaow have been making runs. 3. That's thing though Ali has done enough because batsmen get in over their heads. Unless Ali is slaughtered onwards, I don't see Rashid coming in unless they play in Asia. Plus Ali has scored runs in recent times and has done well with the bat. 4. There is no one. Compton and Carberry aren't making the runs, Robson is out of form, Ali isn't an opener in tests and Lees isn't there yet. Lyth has scored runs and it shows how different Australia is to County Cricket 5. We all miss Pietersen but he's not coming back. Root should be 3 and Bell 4 but Bell has done well at 3 last year and the year before, so this is like his last few chances 6. Well apparently the way to beat Australia is slow low pitches. But the thing is the more they play on them, the better they get. It happens with any player. There are no options at the moment but Lyth.

In Cardiff it wasnt slow and low wicket but, uneven bounce and score board pressure that did them in second innings, In first inning Aussies batters scored upto 20+ runs and then casually gave away their wickets. At Lords, They sorted their casual approach. They arent going to go after the bowling in first inning. English bowlers have to take their wickets. Hence make pitches to support Anderson, Replace Ali with Rashid, Give gloves to Bairstow which gives option to play additinal bat, Bring in couple of more bats (Carberry,Taylor and Hales) else 4-1 out come is guaranteed.

Hales isn't good enough right now, nor is Carberry. Buttler has done more with the bat than those two. Bairstow is not a good keeper compared to Buttler. You need a keeper that does stuff rather than a keeper who is average and is good with the bat. Also in Cardiff, Australia thew their wickets away. It wasn't about Anderson (3 wickets for the series) but more so the lack of composure and over attacking of Moeen. Smith, Clarke, Warner, and co threw away their wickets. At Lord's they batted differently (except for Clarke) and the bowlers were wayward in line and length.

Hales and Barstow are not test materials,they'll fail if you put them up against the likes of johnson,Hazelwood.bell can't be dropped,he'll find his mojo,lyth is not the best option for opening but can't drop him so early

But nevill doesn't give you confidence, what happened to Tim Payne ,I'd say time is up for johnson as well, besides Lyon isn't young either,Smith, mitchell marsh, starc, Hazelwood will stay along with warner and may be Ahmed, aussies need to go to basics enough of this patta they prepare want the aussie pitches of early to late 90's .

But the last laugh is on them. They have been so poor in batting that maybe we should play four or five of our second-teamers at the Oval so we can give them some experience and see how they go against this second-class Australian team. Obviously England will not do that, but this lot are so bad I think we would still win if they did.

Australia’s most prolific batsman over the last 12 months, Steve Smith, has played like a novice. He is a flat-track bully on easy batting pitches but in six innings on the three Test-match pitches where the ball has moved laterally he has had a bad technique and he has shown poor shot selection and an inability to graft or work for runs. In those six innings he has scored 92 runs. Pathetic. His second-innings dismissal here was unbelievably stupid. He was caught at cover-point trying to smash a good-length ball on the up having just come to the crease following a failure in the first innings and with his team trying to battle for credibility.
