CG Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 india's ODI skipper MS Dhoni had criticized Umesh Yadav indirectly in Bangladesh recently for being wayward at times, but the fast bowler thinks he is an asset for the team because of his ability to bowl quick. While he didn't comment on Dhoni's remark, Yadav said bowling fast and maintaining the line and length was a difficult task. "As a genuine fast bowler, the margin of error is very less for us. It's not easy for a fast bowler to bowl consistently in one area. It's easier for a medium pacer to maintain line length at 130-135 km/hr. Many times boundaries go because of the pace at which I bowl. At times, I try different things and when that doesn't work, it costs me a few runs. Everyone is different. I can't bowl like Mustafizur Rahman and he can't bowl like me. My release point is different from that of a medium pacer's, If I change that, I will mess up with my bowling. I am in this team because of my pace. I have taken wickets at the international level with pace," Yadav said during a function organized by Sports Journalists' Association of Nagpur (SJAN) to felicitate him. Not many thought Team India would make it to the semifinals as they had lost the triangular series, which followed the Test series. "We were bit tired during the triangular series after the long Test series. So we didn't perform as well as we would've liked. But yes, it gave us a good opportunity to assess ourselves and what we needed to do in the World Cup. For instance, mid-wicket and deep square-leg boundaries were quite long in Australia and it wasn't easy to clear them if you hurry the batsmen and use short deliveries properly. We did exactly that. Before the tournament, nobody expected the Indian bowlers to perform that well but we knew what we were capable of. To bounce out the opposition was brilliant," Yadav said......................
gattaca Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Good he knows his strength. Atleast unlike maniac who will jump out of a building.
tweaker Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Yadav for a longer duration has only pace,he should now use his experience to plot batsman 's dismissal. He should know when & to whom which deliveries should bowl.He should now add, slower balls, yorker to his variation
Austin 3:!6 Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Rubbish tht he says as a fast bowler its not easy to bowl consistenly in 1 area. Brett Lee, Shoaib Akhtar were deadly accurate even though they were quick. No one is asking Yadav to become McGrath overnight but he need to bowl atleast at an acceptable line with genuine pace which he has failed to do in his career. The reason why he was successful in WC because he cut down on pace and was focusing on line and length. For Yadav, if 1 ball he bowls at offstump you can restassure the next one will be in leg side. He cannot even bowl 2 deliveries in the same line. As a captain, it is very tough to set a field or defend a total with Yadav bowling. His style of bowling is more suited in tests. Maybe MSD should not hv criticized in public but there is a merit in what he said. With Yadav he will bowl few jaffers which will make you say 'Wow' but due to his inconsistency his overall figures in ODI's will always be 8 overs 69 runs with a wicket which is not good enough unfortunately. I do not blame Indian public either. Because we are so deprived of genuine quick bowlers once we get one we want to hold on to them for longer. Pace is amazing quality to have, but is Yadav the answer? Not sure. Zaheer khan was genuine quick in his early days but he was deadly accurate. India need more of that kind of bowler. Zaheer even in his early days was 136-142 range bowler. Zak's fastest ever delivery was 147 clocked in WC 2003.
adi B Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Chalo atleast he'll express himself more in the test matches with msd gone

I have never seen Umesh do that even after 5 years of international cricket. Umesh needs to work on his bowling. Yeah he is in the team for his pace but mindless pace cannot get you wickets. International cricketers will not get out to bowlers who just bowled 145 KMPH, they get out to bowlers who bowl smartly at that pace. Instead of taking jibe at the captain, he should work on his bowling and try to improve his control. Yes when you bowl quick you are going to leak runs sometime but again he needs to also have games where he bowls accurately and troubles the batsmen with pace. He just learnt one thing after the world cup is the bowl short as that was the strategy in the world cup. He is no longer in Australia and should have worked out the length for sub continent but no, he still bowls short trying to get batsmen caught in the boundary. That shows his lack of adaptation.

cricketpitch Posted July 6, 2015 Posted July 6, 2015 Yadav spell in last tour of aus in 2011/12 were sensational but he hardly has played due to dhoni . Yadav played enough. His spell was good in 2011/12 series but he did not develop after that. It is a myth that Dhoni does not like to play him. He got himself injured after the first test of the home series against England which we lost. Yeah after he came back the selectors were not that keen on getting him back in tests. But how can you say it is because of Dhoni? as Varun Aaron played quite a lot during that time and Shami was there in the team too. Bhuvi did extremely well in England. Instead of giving excuses Umesh should improve his bowling. Now with Kohli as captain who loves "Pace" lets see how he does. If he does not perform now, he should not complain anymore about lack of chances. When Yadav started his international career, he was more of a test bowler but now he is looks more suited to ODI/T20. It is the effect of IPL and not Dhoni. Fast bowlers don't know how to bowl long spells as they don't play first class cricket. Yadav's first class debut was in 2008 and he has only played 41 games out of which 13 are test for India. Aaron is even worse. he debuted the same year as Umesh but has played only 31 FC games out of which 6 are test matches for India. How are these bowlers going to improve? They get injured in between these tests and play only few tests a year. They have no ability to bowl long spells. They are wayward allowing teams to score 4-4.5 runs per over. They can't get one spell of tight bowling in tests. Indian fans want both Yadav and Aaron to play in the same team. Be prepared to chase 400-450 in every test match they play overseas as they aren't going to run through many batting lineup by bowling short.

You got your facts wrong buddy. He was the best fast bowler from both sides in the england test match 1.Yes he got injured but he was made ot sit on bench for most of sa tour and eng tour . We play home where we play 1 or 2 seamers.so problem is always going to be there they just have to overcome it.We already concede 400-500 but if these guys get their act they can imporve upon that,
Rightarmfast Posted July 22, 2015 Posted July 22, 2015 MS Dhoni is the worst captain when it comes to fast bowlers. If its in his hand, he will keep trundlers like praveen kumar in the team. Yadav's strength is bowling fast, and thats what he needs to stick to. We have bhuveneswar to do the line n length bowling.
rahulrulezz Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Yadav is the only reason other than Kohli why I watch Indian team play. If u take Yadav out, there is no excitement left.
vishalvirsingh Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 As true cricket fans...it's our duty to support genuine fast bowlers. test cricket all over the world except india and Lanka are won not by Trundlers or spinners. see test teams of africa (morsel steyn abbott)Australia (starc johnson and tall bowler) England (Anderson broad) even Lankan test team has one fast bowler.west indies n other teams too.... to cut the story short all test teams today have one or 2 genuine fast bowlers. India now possess Aaron and yadav as our 2 genuine fast bowlers and one shammi who is also quite fast. Understand this if we need to compete n beat other teams in tests outside india we need to have at least 1 fast bowler playing in 11 Support what ever fast bowlers we have don't criticize. Else india will play Trundlers in tests.
tweaker Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Our greatest bowling attack will be Aaron,Umesh,Shami.
bihutoli Posted July 23, 2015 Posted July 23, 2015 Lol! We need fast bowlers is equivalent to saying we need a batsman with a good sweep shot! Totally one dimensional!

No Indian bowling trio has been that destructive, fast and deceptive as those 3 together.
