Gollum Posted July 12, 2015 Posted July 12, 2015 Harsh decision. Many kids who don't have good CGPA go on to achieve great things in life. Heck I know students who got off to bad starts in the first few semesters come back strongly to finish on a high by the end of the programme. What will Modi govt do? Come on PM, we need you to reassure the poor parents and distraught kids, stop your PR campaign for a sec and look into this.

They don't realize the true purpose of being an educational institute. Expelling 73 students is one example of their crappy system. It isn't about the quality of your syllabus, but it's about how you prepare and motivate kids to follow that. Some kids start slow, and you back them..this is true education. Here's a graph from Khan academy that shows how some kids started the slowest (IIT would categorize them as DUMB straightaway), but once they got hang of things, they rocketed ahead of others. What is the point of calling yourself the best college in India when all you do is select a bunch of toppers and make them do things they already excel at? Narayana institute, FITJEE, Allen.. ye sab kaam to wo sab bhi kar chuke the with those kids 4 years ago. What did IITs do to add to the growth of students? This is no education, its a joke.

Why should a institute bear a cost for these people. IIT's are center of excellence. Not for those people who want a easy pass or free handouts. In my medical college there was a st student who could not remember more than 5 drugs and wouldnt even pass 10th class biology questions if asked . still he got through due to leniency of teachers. Many people fear to fail these people for the fear of charged under sc st act .
