Tiger80 Posted July 14, 2015 Posted July 14, 2015 AMETHI: Congress vice-president Rahul Gandhi's constituency played host to a surprise guest this week: His 14-year-old nephew and Priyanka Gandhi and Robert Vadra's son Rehan Vadra. As the fifth generation of the Nehru-Gandhi family stopped by their pocket borough, many wondered if this was Rehan's baptism in public life. Much like Rahul and Priyanka, and his grandmother — Congress chief Sonia Gandhi — the teenager, who was accompanied by friends, shared meals with locals and interacted with them after his arrival by car on Tuesday. Rehan stayed in Amethi overnight, locals and party sources said. Accompanied by Nilesh Jain and K S Yadav of Rajiv Gandhi Mahila Vikas Project, Rehan and his friends made their first stop at the house of Ram Kripal Pandey of Kauhar in Gauriganj. He then ate "dal, chawal, sabzi and roti" at a villager's house, took a tour of the village and interacted with locals on different issues, including the rural lifestyle, said a local resident. They had their meal sitting on simple plastic chairs, with the food served on a makeshift wooden table. They spent the night in the open, on simple beds covered with mosquito nets. Later, they went to the guest house of Sanjay Gandhi Hospital at Munshiganj and met people there. Members of family usually stay at the guest house.
