Are rapes considered acceptable or what? 2,500+ rapes in just one state, and Zero convictions? Is your society sleeping or has this inaction against the wrongs become a cultural thing? Zero-conviction rate for rape: Senator proposes constitutional changes - The committee met under the chairmanship of the PPP’s Senator Kazim Khan for a roundtable discussion with representatives from bar councils. “We will first determine why the conviction rate is zero and whether [it is something inherent] in the laws, the judiciary or the legal procedure itself,” Senator Kazim told The Express Tribune on Sunday. “In my opinion, the stages of legal procedure, investigation and trial require comprehensive legislation,” said Senator Imam. According to the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan’s (HRCP) 2013 report, 2,576 cases of rape were registered in Punjab in 2013 – the highest among all provinces. According to official records, 127 cases of rape and three cases of gang-rape were registered in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa last year, whereas 27 cases of gang-rape were reported in Sindh. amiret Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 also marital R**e is not considered a crime in Pakistan ( unlike India ) . So reported figures are ridiculously low.

swatpulla Posted August 10, 2015 Author Posted August 10, 2015 I am deeply saddened by this "brushing rapes under the carpet" kind of mentality. Our friend The Don, who is so active in the other thread, telling us awesome things about Pakistan chooses to ignore this one. These little things give you reflection of the society one represents. Here in India, the whole country unites and raises so much noise against rapes. But it seems like Pakistanis simply don't care. It is almost as if they don't want media taking notice and covering these stories. Its strange that they care more about Kashmiris and Palestinians than their own women. I am sorry if I am sounding harsh, but reading all that broke my heart. :((

For example, if it is above 50%, it is a sign that the society cares, so women tend to be vocal about rapes. But in Pakistan, we see here that 100% of the rape cases went unpunished. 0/2576 rape cases resulted in convictions. This is something unheard of. Why would any woman even dare to report a rape in such a society? Things are worse than we can imagine, and that nation is sleeping. A real shame, it's almost as if the society is dead, so much hopelessness around.

Everyone should be able to complain about crime against women. Pakistan here has made even India look like a heaven for women, so that says a lot. If they don't want to talk about this, others should. This country has literally given it's males a license to rape. Not even in stone-age did they do stuff like this to women.

I think they accept camera recording now. Not sure if DNA or circumstantial evidences are permissible. So victim can be flogged.

They met their enemy and fought with them. They defeated them and took them captives. Some of the Companions of the Apostle of Allah (may peace be upon him) were reluctant to have intercourse with the female captives in the presence of their husbands who were unbelievers. So Allah, the Exalted, sent down the Qur’anic verse: (Sura 4:24) "And all married women (are forbidden) unto you save those (captives) whom your right hands possess." (Abu Dawud 2150, also Muslim 3433) It wasn't Muhammad, but "Allah the Exalted" who told the men to rape the women in front of their husbands -
Autonomous Posted August 10, 2015 Posted August 10, 2015 Pakistan has a corrupt and awful society, Our elder generations have failed to step up and are stuck in between which has made the country a laughing stock unfortunately. Hopefully our generation could put on a better atmosphere.

No suatainability at all, The matters like Crime, Education, Employment, Sex and law are not even considered seriously. Also the older generation lacks alot of trust in newer one, We are much more wider in thinking as we look forward to be unbiased and consider right as right and wrong as wrong. The egos in Pakistan are very high and that also has been an obstacle.

There has been a rise in religious fundamentalism, and that unfortunately doesn't go well with the rights of females. Out of all Pakistani posters here, I share most views with you, so I am interested in how you see things in your country today. People are not getting punished for rapes and walking around freely, I am sure the current generation can see that. But are they making noise about it? What makes you so hopeful about this generation? As of now, even they seem to be playing blind to this problem, and if Internet is something to go by, their big focus seems to be Kashmir/Palestine and Rohingyas (all religiously driven agendas). But when you read news like this, one better talk. It isn't just about rapes, but a failure of authorities to acknowledge them.

Ive been a critic of our social system and economic system, I basically try to push up the voice whenever the opportunity is available, Also most of our generation is dependant either or are usually forced to follow whatever the older generation says, So things might progress when and if our time comes. I feel Pakistanis should be less inclined in talking about all these external affairs and rather following someone, We should look to emphasize in our country situation as it has been socially and economically getting down and down. Regarding to what you say being quiet, Look every generstion needs time to settle in, Its human nature to think about their own self under priorities. Atleast a person from this generation would look to condem and try solve out these social issues at basic level.
