That team was full of legends and they surrendered against Mendis giving him 26 wickets. That wasn't their first tour to SL. This team has some novices who are playing their first test in SL. This team lacks the mental fortitude to create victories. They have lost from winning position.
That was I'm 2008 not 2010

yeah' date=' forgot that but point still stands.[/quote'] How ? How does drawing 1-1 against arguably the best Lankan team humiliation? Losing against the worst Lankan team after taking nearly 200 run lead is.

you forgot the loss in 2008 was also a loss and now you are comparing a noob India team to India's ATG team with Indian greats like SRT, VVS, Sehwag, RD, Bhajji, Zak. I will say This team is the weakest Indian team since I have started watching cricket, probably, 99 Aus tour team was as bad if not more. Neither I have great expectations from this team. I didn't even expect that they will be dominating them like they in first test other than the last day.

Only the openers on that team were poor (S Ramesh and Devang Gandhi). Otherwise that team had Tendulkar, Dravid, Ganguly, Laxman (not established), Srinath, Kumble and Venkatesh Prasad).

That team had the manpower but were a phattu team.

As I already asked if this is our worst team in recent memory how does our best player against Spin and one averaging 60+ in subcontinent not playing in the team ?

It's because he lacks the "flair" that Binny, Bhajji, Nohit, Ishant, etc possess.

Dhoni might not have played but it does not matter, we had lost that series badly.

Regarding this, I agree Pujara should have played.

Maybe because of selections is why we have the worst team since 90s? Why shouldnt the team be excused for humiliating defeats as our worst team when they dont pick the best players deliberately?

Today, we saw tight bowling and safe batting... neither were flashy or had "flair". But, it is a calm and sustained approach like this that can help in winning matches.

Really Shastri... sending a clearly injured Saha to tuk-tuk for 5 overs is "aggressive"? I shudder to think of how you define "defensive" then - probably even worse than Trevor "Barnacle" Bailey.

Sending Saha back again when he was injured was stupidity. Also by that time Lungans were bowling shot pitch stuff to put a check on our scoring rate. To risk our bowlers there wasn't aggression, it was something else.

"Something else" = unadulterated stupidity/timidity?

Adding to that...that idiot Ashwin was playing Chameera's bouncers around the wicket without an arm guard. Whenever he hooks, he is mostly late onto the shot so higher odds of a mess up happening. Mishra was sensible enough to atleast wear an arm guard.

Ashwin is an enigma. Sometimes he comes across as the most intelligent cricketer of our times and other times he comes across as an idiot.

Let's hope he doesn't let his inner idiot out tomorrow

LOL at the way people throw around the word idiot on top players.
Gollum did say that he was a very intelligent cricketer as well, prone to only bursts of idiocy... which is true for pretty much any player. I had only stated that we will, hopefully, not see that side of him today and we didn't. I don't think either were taking potshots at him. Why take potshots at Ashwin anyway when we have the likes of Nohit and Bunny and Pisshant in the squad? :giggle:
