Anitha Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 Most of Kohli's decision have been vindicated. We won a series after a long time, first SL series win in 22 years. First series win for Kohli. Give the guy a break, he will only get better
G_B_ Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 whining keeps this forum active i for one hope it does not stop
express bowling Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 Well done captain Kohli. It is a bit funny that Kohli has actually tried to rectify most of the things that captain Dhoni was being accused of ... but is still getting lambasted. (Unduly favouring Rohit has been his only major flaw as captain so far, I can't think of anything else )
Debutant Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 People will always whine. No matter what. There is no way everybody can be happy.
adi B Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 Whining and bickering is fun, else what's the use of a forum lol. Kohli did great and mobilized the troops after being down and out in the first game
Kalia_Test Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 True. His choice of picking right players and backing Talent is indeed admirable :nice:
zep1706 Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 IMO if Dhoni was still captaining this side, we would have lost this series. So yes, Kohli deserves some credit. He is still in the learning process. His biggest asset is that he is not afraid to try new things like playing an extra bowler. The result matters to him and not just the process.
kosingh Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 His team selections might work against rebuilding weak teams like SL, but it's not going to fly against the likes against strong opponents
tweaker Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 We win the series, thats only important. If we are playing with Harbhajan,Binny,Rohit & we are winning series after series, keeping Rahane,Pujara,Vijay out, is okay.We should stop this idol worshipping of players, because when we had superstar also we were loosing overseas.
BlueBee Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 abhi to real whining start hogi :giggle: :haha: True, umpiring errors, DRS etc.. Yeh to ab shuru hoga
jf1gp_1 Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 Well done captain Kohli. (Unduly favouring Rohit has been his only major flaw as captain so far, I can't think of anything else ) Dhoni was constantly hammered for persisting with Ishant , have faith I am sure Rohit will also be fine.
vvvslaxman Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 India won inspite of Rohit's presence which is a good step.
kosingh Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 India won inspite of Rohit's presence which is a good step. Inspite of the presence of Rohit, Umesh and Stuart. And Rahul doing his best to try and join club R.U.S.
moniker Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 Dhoni was constantly hammered for persisting with Ishant ' date=' have faith I am sure Rohit will also be fine.[/quote'] And rightly so. Just because Ishant has done well in this series doesn't mean that calls for dropping him after a string of poor run with the ball were unreasonable. Those who are not performing should be dropped. Simple. Let them come back after improving their games.
CG Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 Dhoni was constantly hammered for persisting with Ishant ' date=' have faith I am sure Rohit will also be fine.[/quote'] Dhoni used ishant as an workhorse ,kohli as an attacking bowler and in short spells change in mindset helps.Ishant mostly was 3rd seamer under dhoni.
express bowling Posted September 1, 2015 Posted September 1, 2015 Dhoni was constantly hammered for persisting with Ishant ' date=' have faith I am sure Rohit will also be fine.[/quote'] I don't have any problems with Kohli backing Rohit. It often yields results. My problem is with the best Indian batsman in the last 4 away tours ( Rahane ) having to suffer and bat at no.3 just to incorporate Rohit. Then, Pujara had to open too although Rohit is the one who is used to opening the innings in ODIs. If Rohit has to be backed based on potential while still not performing consistently then he is the one who should adjust and get the batting position that is available. It is this blatant favouritism that bothers me, not the backing of a player who is thought to have potential, whether rightly or wrongly. But, as I said, apart from this issue, all other captaincy decisions by Kohli so far have looked positive and aggressive. It is like a breath of fresh air after a long time in Indian test cricket.
