Don't think there's anything similar in their actions that's significant. Both were good at yorkers. That is about it.Starc has a terrific run up and a nice rhythmic delivery stride with that slinging arm of his. He's one bowler who is excellent transferring the momentum generated by his run up. express bowling 1

Akram was no more than 115-125-130. If a batsman comes without a helmet, it proves that Pakistanis were just hyped. Not just Akram, but even Imran would be bowling at same pace of 125-130 Gunner 1

To be honest, I don't think any of the bowlers of the past ( like WI quartet ) or the others used to bowl consistently above 150. They didn't even clock that speed in the fastest bowler tournament. When I think of the past, I think genuine pace used to mean bowlers bowling at 140 n sometime touching 145. express bowling 1

It was the 5th day of the match, and he clocked 145 and the commentators clearly said that that was the fastest delievery of the match! There was speed gun in that match, apparently! Goes on to show that Wasim was always below 145 and so was Waqar on a consistent basis!

Waqar was much quicker. Perhaps bowled around 137 to 147 k in his heydays.Wasim and Imran were not all that quick in the air most times but both had very good bouncers. In the days of " no regular speed gun in matches " the bouncers were wrongly thought to be the much quicker deliveries and those pacers who bowled good bouncers were generally known as fast bowlers....unless of course you were really quick in the air like Waqar and it was visible by the lethal yorkers you bowled.Shoaib is the quickest Pakistani pacer till date and that too by a large margin.
