King Tendulkar
Visually ishant looked good this series. Decent pace , accurate , economy good . But he just like ever does not take wickets he can't make ball move like others , no reverse swing really . And also does not get setting bat up and exploiting weaknesses Link to comment

Forget Bhuvi for a second,If any bowler can bowl sustained pace of 85-90 MPH consistently throughout in a test match he should be playing. If he can take wickets doing that then case closed-He should be in. Now can Ishant do the first part-Yes he can Can Bhuvi do that-Not sure If Bhuvi is on a roll taking bucketloads of wickets on every surface it is a no brainer but last 2-3 overseas tests,Ishant has been our best fast bowler. Add Bhuvis ability to bat,if he can check the first 2 points then again-Bhuvi is a no brainer ahead of Ishant. Unfortunately as of now at this present time...Ishant over Bhuvi on bouncy surfaces and Bhuvi over Ishant on seaming grass tracks. On flat tracks coin toss do we need a bowler with some batting ability or do we need to force some pace-Horses for courses Link to comment
maniac
^ Just to add the caveat being...Shami and Yadav are our top 2 fast bowlers and what I said is based on that and also assuming the new crop are not as talented as either Ishant or Bhuvi Edited March 29, 2017 by maniac Link to comment

Can you link me overseas performances of both Bhuvi and Ishant where both played.Would be a good comparison Link to comment
express bowling
Ishant will be needed out of Asia, on flatter tracks, as a workhorse bowler who can bowl a lot of overs while being accurate and hitting the deck hard. Shami and Umesh need to be used for shorter spells, so that they cann bowl will full intensity and pick up wickets. The workhorse-type pacer will facilitate this. Ofcourse, if Aniket C can become the workhorse then it would be even better. Mosher and maniac 2 Link to comment

IF the 5th bowler say someone like Pandya can develop his batting not only 3rd fast bowler will be relieved from being only a work horse We can actually have 4 attacking bowlers shami, umesh, ishant/bhuvi/aniket and pandya. But if its shankar , shankar and 3rd seamer will be doing the duties of filling overs and workhorse. Also a lot depends on spinners, when we were successful overseas it kumble who use to bowl marathon spells. Dont think ashwin has that fitness and nt sure if jadeja would have the skill to keep chiping away with wkts. With kuldeep to i doubt we can get marathon spells. Link to comment
