Adi_91 Posted January 17, 2016 Posted January 17, 2016 ODI pitches are flat everywhere, and Oz is notorious for it. Not going to change anytime soon. And our "horribowlers" look worse even in helpful conditions, let alone in Aussie conditions.
express bowling Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 (edited) What I meant is the likes of aniket choudhary, ankit rajput, nathu Singh, Sarn (already selected), shardul, deepak chahar, siva kumar. I mean we should try out almost everyone who shows some promise. For a country as big as india and with as much domestic teams as we have we give chance to the minimum number of new players compared to other countries.Apart from Nathu Singh, Ankit Rajpoot and maybe ( not sure ) Aniket Chaudhury and Shardul Thakur ...don't think the others have the requisite pace for international cricket. rkt.india Posted January 18, 2016 Posted January 18, 2016 I dont think our bowlers really practice enough. Bowling to batsmen isnt called practice that is practice for batsmen. Bowlers need to do an area-specific practice making the ball landing where they should in a match.

Bowlers need to do an area-specific practice making the ball landing where they should in a match.I get that feeling too.Our bowlers don't practice bowling a single type of delivery ball after ball and day after day. They need to practice good length off stump deliveries for days, trying nothing else in between ...then practice bowling yorkers the same way etc.Umesh looks like the most unpracticed bowler of the lot. Such talent...can swing the ball at 140 to 150 k...but not making the most of it.

He bowled a beauty to Finch, but I didnt see a single ball landing in that same about 6-7-meter area from him after that. at least try to hit that area where batsmen are uncomfortable when they first come to bat but what he does bowls short and wide freebie to Smith. it is a job of the coach to pull bowlers and practice in the nets. We have had some real inept coaches not able to make bowler progress. and for bowlers, it sounds good talking all sane in the interviews but that alone is not going to land the ball in the right areas. For that, you will have to practice. Umesh is already 28, Aaron is 26, dont know when are they going to find that consistency. Zaheer wasn't the most consistent bowler you will find, but they are not even getting close to him.
adi B Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Dont know why people are blaming our pacers so much, what can they do when the fielders drop sitters and the batsmen get sets later on and score big, what can they do if there is no drs?On this graveyard, where there is literally nothing in it for the bowlers, our pacers haven't bowled bad at all, and you've got to take even half chances as they won't come later .you get this Australian bowling to bowl to their batsmen and see them rake up even bigger totalsSome people are just sitting behind the lappies and easily blaming bowlers for the losses without even assessing the conditions, the opponents and the scenarios ,bowlers are an easy target nowadays.Tell me what result it would have been if bailey got out first ball at perth or Pishant had taken marshs catch at gabba or Maxwell edge was given out on drs when 60+ were required doccricket 1
adi B Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 I think most people here don't watch much cricket when India's not playing.i remember People here were slating and tearing our pacers last year in the test series when they weren't able to pick 20 wkts in aus without even considering how pathetic the Australian pitches are.Saf got smacked for 500+ twice in gabba and Adelaide when they toured in 2012 ,nzl bowlers were mercilessly thrashed by Australia in the latest test series(picked only 17 wkts in first 2 tests lol) ,are they bad as well? Its just that Australian pitches offer almost 0 help to the bowlers and Australian batsmen are ruthless at home, probably one of a kind .the same Indian bowler were wrecking havoc against other teams on the same pitches in the world cup .Thing is don't read too much into this, playing genuine pacers is the only way forward and I hope Dhoni and the selectors don't rush back to their trundler brigade right after this series ,especially for wt20 express bowling and Mosher 2

The conditions are really bad for bowlers these days in Australia. That being said, the line and length of all our pacers have not been good at all, be it the fast bowlers or the trundlers, . There were too many balls bowled on the leg stump, down the leg side, wide outside off stump...attempted bouncers are often waist high even on these bouncy tracks, the pacers don't bowl to a plan...we have seen very few attempted yorkers.Just think of the great line and length Umesh bowled in the last test of the SA series....and the results were there for all to see. Our trundlers have even worse records and performances. Our fast bowlers must become more accurate and bowl to a plan .... and we have seen it happen under Kohli.
adi B Posted January 19, 2016 Posted January 19, 2016 Bowl Yorkers ? How many Yorkers did they bowl in the last ten overs when Maxwell was going after them ? Sums it up the brainless ness of our bowlers for meyeah yorker part is where I agree with you, hardly any yorker.I have given up hope on that ,but those shots hit by Maxwell off yadav were extraordinary tbh.those were not poor/loose deliveries at,short of a good length .maxy made room and blasted that because that length was becoming monotonous, only the full toss was a brainless delivery.Sran bowled like a chump, trundling at 120s and wide outside off but he went out out of steam especially after Maxwell was given not out , he's just a newbie, can give him the benefit.these are the times when the captain need to have a talk with the bowler but dhoni being a keeper doesn't help.Bigger point though is these 290-300 totals are below par on these pitches ,you've got to have luck ,take half chances and cling to everything but unfortunately our catching let us down and add to that drs misery

They crumbled under pressure. Umesh might have talent but he doesn't have temperament. sandeep and sscomp32 2

rkt.india Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 He might... but then, I'm not so very convinced of that either.Bowling at 150 kph in itself is talent enough but to utilize it is where you need a good temperament.
express bowling Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Bowling at 150 kph in itself is talent enough but to utilize it is where you need a good temperament.True
Vijy Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 Bowling at 150 kph in itself is talent enough but to utilize it is where you need a good temperament. That's his only talent I see thus far.
express bowling Posted January 25, 2016 Posted January 25, 2016 That's his only talent I see thus far.Apart from high speeds, Umesh's talents also include reverse swing and conventional outswing, whereever conditions support them
rkt.india Posted January 26, 2016 Posted January 26, 2016 That's his only talent I see thus far.And that's a rare talent in India. Only 5 bowlers in our history has done that.
