Dil Dil India Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 Please note that Zimbabwe has been excluded in this exercise. 1)Younis Khan 48 innings, 1886 runs @41 with 4 hundreds.2)MoYo 62 innings, 2647 runs@ 44.11 with 7 hundreds.3)Rahane 25 innings, 1069 runs@48.59 with 3 hundreds.4)Kohli 39 innings, 1688 runs@44.42 with 7 hundreds.5)Sanga 66 innings, 2764 runs@44.58 with 7 hundreds. for all the flak that our young batsmen get from various quarters, their stats hold up against guys like Sanga, Mohammad Yousuf and Younis Khan outside the subcontinent...batsmen who are seen as legends in Asian cricket. sandeep Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 Good numbers, but Indian batsmen are held to a higher standard. Better things are expected from them, its not enough for them to best the "moyos" and sangas of the world.

adi B Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 Sanga is a great but moyo and younis are not exactly the benchmark for overseas tour especially with a small sample size.
moniker Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 What flak do Kohli and Rahane get? I think surely most fans would acknowledge that Kohli, Rahane and Vijay have been pretty good for us. The only blemish was Kohli's poor tour of England. The batsmen that haven't done well are Dhawan and Rohit. And maybe Chepu to a certain extent. Old guy 1
Adi_91 Posted February 5, 2016 Posted February 5, 2016 Chepu is a big disappointment. Hope he comes good soon.
Dil Dil India Posted February 5, 2016 Author Posted February 5, 2016 (edited) ChePu seems out of his depth against both quality fast and quality spin bowling. Seems to get out bowled all the time. It's a shame really because his hundred in RSA made me think he was going to be a huge success overseas. Thus far he has not been flash overseas though, the ton in SL notwithstanding. Hopefully he will step up. Edited February 5, 2016 by Dil Dil India

adi B Posted February 6, 2016 Posted February 6, 2016 I never got to watch the Ind-SA series last year. How did he do in the tests there?easily the second best batsman from both sides, first being vijay.rahane and de villers(scored a 50 in mohali but was out before) failed miserably on the raging turners in mohali and nagpur.Vijay and chepu made batting look easy when it looked minefield for others,a solid average of 33+ is a testament to that Adi_91 1
Dil Dil India Posted February 6, 2016 Author Posted February 6, 2016 I never got to watch the Ind-SA series last year. How did he do in the tests there?for as long as he was at the crease he looked good but the concern is he seems to be getting out after making gritty little 30s and 40s and that too in the same manner. Without checking I'd say that at least 70% of his dismissals recently have been bowled/lbw. His USP was his ability to make big daddy hundreds. At least at home he should do that....can't judge him on the basis of the SA series though as those pitches were crazy.
Vijy Posted February 7, 2016 Posted February 7, 2016 Chepu is a big disappointment. Hope he comes good soon. Probably a bona fide FTB.
