India did well in weight lifting, swimming, cycling etc. SriLanka gave tough fight in swimming. Pakistan also won one gold in swimming (women gold - a good thing I suppose)https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/2016_South_Asian_GamesIt is 14-1 after day 1.

randomGuy Posted February 9, 2016 Author Posted February 9, 2016 SL wins 100m men's sprint gold 2 mins back. Although an Indian holds South Asian Games record, the one that took part this time sucks. He has 7th out of 8 competitors I think.India leading in volleyball mens final over SL atm.

But nice to Know, SL is a good little country.Not irrelevant , SAF asian games , Olympics are more of display of How much facilities and incentives govt provide to sportspersons as 90% plus games in these are not spectator friendly and just require Govt assistance . Communist nations always dominated them because of Govt interferance. So either it is rich or communist nations that dominate Olympics type sports .SL being ahead of India in per capita GDP can easily provide much more facilities to their sportspersons than India

So either it is rich or communist nations that dominate Olympics type sports .SL being ahead of India in per capita GDP can easily provide much more facilities to their sportspersons than Indiano direct co relation between percapita and sport facilities when the difference is between a low mean high median country like India and a low median low mean country like srilanka . A country needs urban centers, globalized sport institutions and underliying economic activity to be able to churn and sustain top class athletes. Srilanka is more about pure born out of beach sport skills, rather than infra and organized development. Poor post from you over all, very simplistic, anyhoo..still SL got too many gold medals which is out of ordinary, pak getting any gold at all is also surprising, they do have some sports in which they are better than Indians..hmm pretty sure they sucked in athletics and anything that need physical ability, poor overall genetic pool would be the reason for this.
