Tired of the Tendulkar shadow

maybe Sehwag made those comments cause Kohli bowed in the direction of Sachin during the match? I think Kohli himself will be more than happy with the Sachin comparison. So who are we to judge.

That's right. May be the OP is tired of the Tendulkar shadow, but many players were heavily influenced by Tendulkar. Kohli started playing because of him.

From what i know, for whatever reason the players from Punjab really followed SRT like fanatics. Yuvi Bhajji and Kohli are all SRT bhakts. I have read countless statements with regards to that in the past in the media.

Ironically he is not that close to mumbai based players like Rahane and Rohit. Not saying they dont respect him. They have tonnes of respect for him.

Such things in cricket are unavoidable when you have legacy of greats players.

Every aggressive batsman born on Indian soil will ought be compared with Virender Sehwag or every captain who will lead our team in future will be surely compared with Ganguly or Dhoni.

Virat in last few matches carried the entire team consistenty like Sachin did in his peak. Its deep written in pscyhe of Indian cricket fan's subconcious mind that BEST AND MOST DEPENDABLE BATSMAN EQUALS TO SACHIN in team. So such comparisons are going to be there till large part of Virat's career.

Even Virat will love getting compared with the Master  who inspired him to pick the bat. Why only Virat ?? Almost all batting talent born between in last three decades and upcoming decades are and will be inspired by Sachin and will love to get compared with him.

Sachin is not a only a person any more, He has become a Scale of Batsmanship and consistency in Indian minds.

Like it or not , Its gonna not change atleast for 2-3 decades.

Imagine Kohli playing for Afghanistan winning games singlehandedly against Australia. Imagine what that would mean to an Afghani kid. Sport isn't about just numbers it's about how it makes you feel. It's not Kohli's fault but the game has changed, India has changed, and we've changed. Limited overs cricket no longer provides an attractive platform to differentiate the good from the very good unless you happen to be one of those that assesses these things statistically.

Kohli is better than to Tendulkar ,but Kohli even after retiring will never admit that[emoji14]

My point was that he's not a copy of someone else ("new Tendulkar") but an original all his own.

When people compare players they never say they are copies. Otherwise Ponting, Dravid, Kallis,Sangakara, Lara who have all been compared to Sachin would be copies of him. However each one is a completely different batsman from Sachin

Comparisons with legends is unavoidable... Irrespective of whether or not the player accomplishes what the legend accomplished..  That is human nature, more so when fans miss seeing their legends play... Comparisons are either based on style of play or circumstances that the player performs in...

Some comparisons we have heard over years:

Sachin compared to Bradman

Sehwag compared to Sachin

Kohli compared to Sachin

Darren Bravo compared to Lara

Hazelwood compared to McGrath

Kusal Perera compared to Jayasuriya

Dhoni compared to Bevan

Simply put, the Kohli-Sachin comparison is not the first we've seen and certainly not the last as well..
