At the end of this century China plans to surpass the US in terms of absolute GDP. There is a good book on this called The Hundred Year Marathon. Even if China does not surpass the US, it presents a major challenge to Washington. Make no doubts about it. They want to,they cant. They simply dont have the leverage nor they can get it.America got its hegemony by striking alliances with some very powerful countries,by making sure there are no fires in its neighbourhood that can be fanned againist the US,by being a technology hub.Neither of these are happening with China. China's cheap labour and ability to mass copy and produce goods doesnt make it a competitor of the US.

If I am not wrong, Ind has signed up with US to patrol the Ind Ocean and even South China Sea. Looking at such goals, sooner or later, Ind would get involved with various issues in the region including Balochistan Let US intervene in Balochistan through their new found friendship with Iran.India must stay away from being anyone's proxy. We cant become a Pakistan.

Well Ind got involved in East Bengal too which resulted in BD. It is hard to stay out of sub-con matters

mishra Posted July 13, 2016 Posted July 13, 2016 I hope China now respects the norms and supports international bodies and principals like it advocated at the time of India joining NSG. Who am i kidding . They are building nuclear power plants sharing nuclear technology and supplying nuclear material to Pakistan without any NSG exemption.

China has got a massive fire to fight. It cant even bulldoze Philippines because of US treaty with Philippines.China has huge problems to face in SCS and ECS.
velu Posted July 13, 2016 Author Posted July 13, 2016 china can be bullied easily .. most of their banks are under massive debt and government is trying to soft land also governemnt is too much involved in stock market and it has the duty to protect it from crashing.. any bad news about manufacturing , infrastructure created through sanction will make the government to burn its reserves.. and offcourse whole global mkts will get affected , but it will cause irrecoverable damage to china..

I would love to see manufacturing shifting out of China ans returning to other places.Brexit may do that for UK and others may follow.
mishra Posted July 13, 2016 Posted July 13, 2016 What a confrontationist this guy Xi has been. US didnt needed to do anything to be requested for help from one time enemy Vietnam and Russian ally India. I hope common sense comes back to him. China was once by citizens of same neighboring and many other nations to have achieved so much in so little time. Now its is getting image of a opportunistic bully with no moral standing. Chinese themselves need to introspect but they are allready talking about war with US. Quote "China will take all necessary measures to protect its territorial sovereignty and maritime rights and interests,"

chewy Posted July 13, 2016 Posted July 13, 2016 Day by day, China is screwing up it's global rise, there confrontational approach is leading to hatred of China by citizens of more and more countries every year. the dominance of US and Europe as much to do with their soft power as their wealth and military. randomGuy 1
