They want to,they cant.They simply dont have the leverage nor they can get it.America  got its hegemony by striking alliances with some very powerful countries,by making sure there are no fires in its neighbourhood that can be fanned againist the US,by being a technology hub.Neither of these are happening with China.

 

China's cheap labour and ability to mass copy and produce goods doesnt make it a competitor of the US.

We did it because it stopped the Pakistan advantage of a a two front war plus the threat of China surrounding us from 3 sides.

I hope China now respects the norms and supports international bodies and principals like it advocated at the time of India joining NSG. Who am i kidding . They are building nuclear power plants sharing nuclear technology and supplying nuclear material to Pakistan without any NSG exemption.

China has got a massive fire to fight.It cant even bulldoze Philippines because of US treaty with Philippines.China has huge problems to face in SCS and ECS.

china can be bullied easily .. most of their banks are under massive debt and government is trying to soft land 

 

also governemnt is too much involved in stock market and it has the duty to protect it from crashing..

any bad news about manufacturing , infrastructure created through sanction will make the government to burn its reserves..

 

and offcourse whole global mkts will get affected , but it will cause irrecoverable damage to china..

I would love to see manufacturing shifting out of China ans returning to other places.Brexit may do that for UK and others may follow.

What a confrontationist this guy Xi  has been. US didnt needed to do anything to be requested for help from one time enemy Vietnam and Russian ally India. I hope common sense comes back to him. China was once by citizens of same neighboring and many other nations to have achieved so much in so little time.
