Both will finish as greats along with Williamson and Smith. These 4 will be the future greats. I agree to 3 of these - not too sure about Smith. He is just having a purple patch IMO. Link to comment
Bilal
Good thing about them, at least about williamson, Kohli & Root are that they are very nice guy.. may be aggressive on field but quite down to earth in real life and not giving stupid statements like guys like Gayle or ibra in football. Its better to be down to earth because you nver know about tomorrow. This is also one of the reason why I admire Tendulkar a lot even though he is not my favourite. Link to comment

SLICKR392
Kohli is better overall, but Root is pretty much ahead of him in the whites. Kohli will paddle up his Test stats and smother his way up the ranking at the end of this home season. Link to comment

Sachin (Tendulkar) is the best batsman and now I feel Virat (Kohli) is tremendous from his work ethic.... his aggression is amazing. express bowling
They were showing the batting averages of Asian batsmen outside Asia in tests in the last 10 years ( minimum of 20 innings ) Top Indians Rahane 49 ( it has now become 52 after Rahane's 108* ) Tendulkar 48 Kohli 48 Ganguly 38 Sangakkara and Younis Khan were 50+ and only ones above rahane, Tendulkar and Kohli. Relevant to this thread......This is one important area where Kohli leads Root even in tests.....that is doing well in conditions completely different from what he has faced in his formative years. Infact the pitches in 1992 were quick....the innings he played in Perth in 1992,made him stand out in everyone's eyes.....the bowling from 1999-2008 was something else....especially in 1999 when Lee,Macgrath,Warne,Fleming were in the team. Having said that still impressive from Young Indian batsmen Link to comment
