maniac Posted August 4, 2016 Posted August 4, 2016 (edited) The obvious part is Srilanka is still a very boring team but long gone are the days of SSC etc which were graveyards for bowlers and where batsmen like Samaraweera became like Bradman. The crowds and appreciation for test cricket is no way even close to England or Australia. Yes Srilanka is known for it's scenic beauty and that was always a factor even when cricket in Srilanka was god awfully boring. Having said that in recent times, some of the best test matches and series have been played in Srilanka. Now if you solely go by results than India and even the UAE have produced full results in pretty much every game. Here is where I think Srilanka has the edge over most other countries in terms of test match pitches-India might sweep 4-0 or Pakistan might win 3-0 in India and UAE respectively but these are at the end of the day one-dimensional dust bowls or in UAE's case some of them being flat pancakes. England and Newzealand come the closest in terms of producing exciting test matches but even there once in a while they have flat pitches that end up as dull draws. Australia and Westindies once associated with the most exciting brand of cricket probably have the most boring and dull wickets for tests these days. South Africa too either seem to have flat wickets or at times those bouncy and fast wickets which are the other extreme of dust bowls. This is why I think Srilankan pitches have been the best-There seems to be equal opportunity for Pace and Swing, reverse swing,Spin and also some attacking cricket. Some of the best innings in recent times have been played in Srilanka-Mendis,Chandimal,Pujara,Rahane,Azhar Ali Similarly-Ashwin and Herath have found enough turn and bounce to run through line ups. Pace-Ishant,Starc etc have bowled some brilliant spells with new as well as old ball to turn games for their sides. I think test cricket in Srilanka has moved a long way from being the most boring venues to one of the best places to play test cricket Edited August 4, 2016 by maniac tweaker and Ankit_sharma03 2
velu Posted August 5, 2016 Posted August 5, 2016 @maniac to reduce the cost , SLC recruited new employees for preparing the pitch tweaker, Laaloo and Adi_91 3
Ankit_sharma03 Posted August 7, 2016 Posted August 7, 2016 These pitches are so much fun than those old days where they use to be so slow tailored for Muralitharan. These pitches are offering something for everybody

Hopefully india learn a thing or 2 and implement for Ranji's and Deodhar's...This way, we can clear the chaff out of wheat.... there are so many undeserving batsmen and bowlers in our set-up..... This way, srilanka will become competitive all over the world pretty soon....
