Weak attack. Sandeep Sharma is slow, S. Kaul is average

Shubek Gill is tall and  has a bit of pace from what I hear and Kaul is nippy. Sandeep provides variation, being a genuine swing bowler.  That  is a decent Ranji attack.  We are not playing Duleep Trophy here.  The Rajasthan attack is an exception.

Nathu + Aniket + Pankaj - thats a "decent" (not great, but decent) attack. A century against them (on a competitive pitch) will be more remarkable than against Kaul and Sandeep. Just sayin.

But yea good for Hooda. Did well.

That same Rajashtan attack has already conceded 365 to Maharashtra. Nathu and Aniket are yet to  get a wicket.

The 2nd highest score for Baroda is 76 and no one else has a 50 even.   That gives a bit of perspective to Hooda's 250

Amit Kuila picks up 2 wickets in the 1st innings again after his dream debut of 8 wickets....as Bengal dismisses Railways for 105.

The Himachal Pradesh cricket team achieved a new low in the Ranji Trophy today as the Hyderabad team restricted them to mere 36 runs in the first innings of the Round 4 matches. None of the Himachal Pradesh batsmen could enter into the double figure mark as the Hyderabad made full use of the bowler friendly track in Barsapara cricket stadium in Guwahati on Friday.

An article on Amit Kuila. Can some one translate key points ?

CvWndFPUMAETNxc.jpg:large

It is titled " Wicket in first ball by Amit "

This article talks about Kuila's background and coach. He comes from a very poor family in Kharagpur, his father worked in a factory but lost his job. He has been coached by Ranadeb Basu who has devoted a lot of time to him and taught him where to bowl to pick wickets.

In Bengali, his name is pronounced  "Kuilla."

The article ends with some descriptions about his debut Ranji match.

I am liking the runs from Gambhir's bat. Wish he had hit a double like Deepak Hooda did. He should retain his spot for first test against England.

We will probably have Rahul and Dhawan back by then

I don't see Rahul coming back this early. I read somewhere that he is still trying to get fit. With a 5 match series, selectors will ask Kohli and coach to not rush him. England have done the same with Anderson who is feeling all right but not fully there and hence will join the squad after first 2 test or may be later.
