But if you cant do that, then be gracious and accept that India is better side than Pakistan, away and home

If lucky, you might get a 4-5 days of sunshine in each game i.e more hrs to get same or better result. Or are you nervous with your so called better team and will keep on singing tune of one fluke away win Edited October 6, 2016 by mishra

You could not even defeat Zim in Zim on your last tour. Weren't you whitewashed on your last South Africa tour and have not toured Australia in a long time ? ( even that was a white-wash ). The draw in England has been your only good performance away from Asia in recent times. And you too have done well at " home ".

Common sense says, most recent performances to count more towards ranking... while u r jumping for Pak vs Zim tour of 3 years ago, the fact is among most recent away performance Pak had a tour of 2-2 vs England in England which ind can only dream for now...

As far as I know, the rankings are based on the last 4 years, with more weightage for matches in the last 2 years ( as it should be ). So, your Zim series draw is still relevant as is your whitewash loss in South Africa. You missed the fact that I mentioned your precious draw in England too. You have not toured Australia or NZ in a long time and that is helping your cause. India has won 2 away series in recent times. And don't say one is WI because you have not been able to win there. Asim Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 ^ ur team at #1 in ranking right now, congrats for that... but I'll take a 2-2 Eng over a win vs current WI team... for the sake of argument u might disagree but Im quite sure every genuine ind Test cricket fan would prefer a 2-2 Eng over a win in WI right now...

By using your same logic India has not played England for more than 2 years, so we don't know how India would have played them now. The bottomline is India has won its two recent away series and Pakistan has drawn it's away series.

ICC ranking system are there for a reason. A away win against England does not equate to being best test side. Simple as that. Putting emotional angle into it, I can be classed as most desperate icfer who wants India to win a series against England or draw a away series with England. But despite all that , common sense in me says number 1 spot is better, dethroning Padosis for nimbler 1 spot is even sweeter.
Asim Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 Aug 2016... Pakistan completes an away tour, Ind completes an away tour... Pak ABOVE india and a #1 team... End of Aug 2016: put all ur logics, all your 2,3,4 yrs performances, everything u mentioned home+away, result n the fact is: PAK 111, ind 110 Sep 2016... Ind starts a home season, Pak starts a home season... Ind becomes ahead of Pak... and obv it does not have to do anything with WI or ENg away tours or 3 yrs record etc etc... points added in rating are just your win vs NZ points and for Pak it would be just vs WI home series points...

My point is very simple. Performances of both teams in test matches have been very similar in the recent past. Both have done well at home, both have won in SL , we have won in WI and you have drawn in England. None of us have won in Australia, SA or NZ. Which is why we are very close as far as points are concerned. As far the the draw in England is concerned, we have done well in the last Australia tour too. We lost a test very narrowly and could have won it on another day and drawn the series. I know that there are no ifs and buts in professional sports but it does showcase the ability of our team in the last 1 year in tests. Our test team has got a new lease of life under Kohli and Kumble and we are expected to do much better on our next tours to England, SA etc. Edited October 7, 2016 by express bowling
