Sunny echoing everything most of Icf says...when the guy is not obsessing over stats or trying to be over the top ...I think he is by far the best analyst in the country when it comes to cricket....and probably one of the most deserving guy to give analysis of all time ...every thing he says beyond the nonsense he spouts 90% of the time  as long as it is relevant to cricket is worth it's weight in gold

Having said all that....his views are sometimes biased esp if the players is from certain community and comes from certain region (Mumbai)

Exactly had axar patel been a mumbai cricketer, thoughts of MR. gavaskar would have been very different.

His thoughts on Rahane- 

“Rahane was unlucky to get out as the replays suggested two different things. One angle showed that the ball bounced off the ground before Corey Anderson caught it and the other one portrayed it as a clean catch. The on-field umpire’s soft signal was out and the TV umpire needs a conclusive evidence to overturn the decision,” 

 

Fair enough he got a bad one, but he played a bad shot to the fielder which cannot be denied. What about his poor innings . No criticism regd.  that.

 

There was a time he was really good but now all he cares that BCCI should be happy and the money should keep rolling.
