I think they should do it so that the whole cash economy is curtailed and we have digital economy which would be easier to trace and would have more tax revenues and corruption is controlled to a good extend. Complete eradication of corruption is  a wild goose chase. Rather a gradual and progressive controls would be more meaningful for us.

Bingo. Great move. We indians got so used corruption that if something prevents us from doing our usual business then we get against it vehemently just like some are against demonetization. Everyone, especially common man will suffer for sure. Even though I dont consider myself poor and I am not Indian but I lost nearly 25K because of demonetization. I cant exchange it but I am so happy that those who we are hoarding black money are severely punished, if not they will be.

10 cr of jewelry was bought by Cong Minister's relative from Karnataka using demonetized currency. :wall:

And few have audacity to question the success of demonetization. It was a fantastic move. Legally, I-T could establish with documented trails of paperwork to prove if assets were bought using demonetized currency and was not reported by seller/buyer. In such cases, either or both (buyer/Seller) could be indicted under I-T act.

Boy, lots of debauchery is going to be uncovered in coming few years.

Demonetisation: Unusual deposits of Rs 1.7 trillion detected, says RBI paper

Mumbai: ‘Unusual’ cash deposits totalling Rs1.6-1.7 trillion were made during the demonetisation period, says a research paper posted on the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) website.

In nominal terms, it said, the excess deposits accrued to the banking system due to demonetisation are estimated in the range of Rs2.8-4.3 trillion.

“The ‘unusual’ cash deposit in specific accounts, which are usually less active, is estimated to be in the range of Rs1.6-1.7 trillion,” according to the paper, ‘Demonetisation and Bank Deposit Growth’.

Quote

It said that excess deposit growth in the banking system during the demonetisation period (11 November 2016 to 30 December 2016) works out to 4.0-4.7 percentage points. If the period up to mid-February 2017 is taken into account to allow for some surge to taper-off, excess deposit growth is in the range of 3.3-4.2 percentage points, it said.

“Considering some more temporal tapering of deposits, the exercise taken up to end-March 2017 reveals that excess deposit growth would be in the range of 3.0-3.8 percentage points,” the paper said. According to the paper, aggregate deposits grew by 14.5% (y-o-y) during the period 11 November to 30 December 2016, as against 10.3% during the corresponding period of 2015.

Overall, there appears to have been a significant increase in bank deposits due to demonetisation, the paper said, adding, “which if sustained, could have a favourable impact on financial savings and their channelisation to capital markets.”

Quote

A separate research paper titled ‘Financialisation of savings Into non-banking Financial Intermediaries’ said that demonetisation appears to have led to an acceleration in the financialisation of savings. The research paper is authored by Manoranjan Dash, Bhupal Singh, Snehal Herwadkar and Rasmi Ranjan Behera; all work at Reserve Bank of India.

The paper also pointed out that in parallel, there is a shift towards greater formalisation of the economy in the near term aided by the introduction of goods and services tax (GST) and regulations such as the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016 (RERA) and the Benami Transactions (Prohibition) Amendment Act, 2016. “These developments may also incentivise greater shift from physical to financial savings,” it said.

Click on the tweet to go to a thread by Ashu giving his perspective on the recent RBI report.

The guy is clearly an andh bhakt trying to fool people, he is taking 31 st march as date in some tweets to show cash with public declined, of course when limits were in place upto 13 march cash with public decline

He is also showing that 30k crores were transferred by RBI as achievement while last year rbi transferred 65000 crores and this year expected transfer was 75000 crores

Also there is no clearity whether remonitisation is complete or not

Hundreds of lives lost, millions of people inconvenienced, millions of jobs lost, GDP screwed, all the so called black money back at the banks. All economists worth their salt and spine predicted this monumental disaster. The worst isn't over yet. Small businesses that shut down aren't going to revive overnight or many ever. 'Organized loot and legalized plunder' as the architect of the modern Indian economy and facilitator of double digit growth among other poverty alleviation schemes said.

And for the foolish bhakts who think there is still money waiting to come back through the corrupt IT department by analyzing deposits (even if we ignore it's like setting out daakus to catch chors), they manage to convict 20 odd people in a year. So, yeah in the long run, when we are all dead the money will be back. What you witnessed, ladies and gentleman, was the largest money laundering scheme the world has ever seen.

Total apathy towards millions who are living below poverty. Who made then poor and left them poor? Because of non-sense policies of congress and huge black money/black economy. This money has to come in govt's treasury. From this money, some transformation/development could happen. Imagine, if this was done 2-3 decades ago. Today we would have been sitting on the worlds strongest economy. Just because congress didnt do the dirty work, doesnt mean it should not have been done.

If IT dept is chor, then who made them what they are? If bureaucracy is corrupt, what have you done in 6-7 decades when you ruled the country? Your big ministers including MMS were named in many of filthy scams in the history of this country. You left us in complete state of dilapidation. Todays India is not an uneducated lot any more or oblivious to reality.

Oh wait but but I dont have any shame and I have audacity to blame chaddidhari for everything.

haha. Could you get any more funnier man. 60 years deep rooted problem and you want it all eradicated in 2-3 years.

Just to make you feel better, if you think BJP isnt doing a good job then people will not keep them electing. You can keep really high hopes with the likes of Cong, SP, RJD, DMK, CPI/CPM and A{cough}K. etcs. But as of now BJP is getting elected everywhere then there is a reason for that. What you and I believe absolutely matters zilch.

In the mean time, please give me 3/5 bullet points on how would you have taken away black economy and removed all the counterfeit currency from the system. I am waiting for this response. Please be brief and I will discuss. If not then I already know what to assume.

The guy thinks the money is in government treasury. Why even engage such morons?

And in the next post he is out to prove that he is a moron by running down Congress for 60 years and saying electability is a measure of performance for BJP.

In the govt treasury when it is declared as income in the form of Taxes. When undeclared as a black money, govt doesnt get nothing. I am sure your chor congressi and leftist supporters carried all the black money and didnt wanna pay taxes. If you want to earn money by using resources of the country then you must declare it and pay taxes. Let the readers decide who the moron is here.

I knew it would come down to name calling.
