It would be a little risky to include likes of Nair in the playing 11 if Ind is only fielding 5 batting specialists, along with 5 bowlers. With Rahane, we looked like a headless chicken.

That's what I had been saying, even a half-fit Kohli brings in more ith the captaincy and mindset of others..

Captain is always as good as his team.Yes Kohli does bring energy and kind of displine from players but playing 11vs 11 is already hard enough.

just give him a match or two, although I believe iyer and pant are must in this team ,would not be a bad Idea to open with pant and Rahul, since Vijay and Rahul are pretty similar and bogs down pretty easily, Iyer too is a stroke maker, most importantly both are good against short ball, and pant can really take attack to opposition and can put off bowlers of their length.

This is not odi and we are touring abroad next few years . Opening us specialist job and pant has long way to go even as lower order batsman . Overseas playing the new ball is key .

The problem with Nair is that along with being inconsistent and a failure with the bat except for one fluky innings, the guy drops catches. At least someone like Raina or Jaddu even if they didn't contribute with the bat, they couldn't be faulted for their fielding.

So basically can't bat, can't bowl and can't field?
