Luckily , the spinners have created chances. But , this kind of catching will cost big in any close series or overseas.

 

Today again, Pappu drops Cook within first half hour when cook was on 4 .

Fairly easy catch too. Pappu is atrocious as a keeper.

Wow, 20 catches, is it? Overall in the series? That will be disaster in AWAY tours.

Apart from the dropped catches,   many many edges have flown through vacant areas and  fallen in vacant spaces due to the lack of fielders in standard close-in field positions.

He seems to mentally turn off sometimes  when a batsman is playing a bread and butter shot . He should be expecting every ball to be edged and going to him.

 

Against fastbowlers also , his approach is more akin to goal-keeping ..taking balls at one bounce

in 90s we were good at catching and bad at ground fielding

in 00s we were decent at both

in 10s we are good at ground fielding and atrocious at catching

Can BCCI hire a top notch fielding coach - this is by far the area that needs a lot of help.

We need a very good wicket keeper ,most of the catches are dropped by the keeper.

Then there are some chances which Pathiv & Saha never attempts which a good kerper can catch & it can be the deciding factor

Yes, there were dropped catches. But with a weak opposition, spinners were producing far more chances.
