sandeep Posted December 22, 2016 Posted December 22, 2016 I dont understand how Jadeja is in the ODI team. His 2016 ODI stats are crap.

Why cant they just pick these awards in January and have the selection year Jan -dec probably because there is no cricket in England in the winter.
Mosher Posted December 23, 2016 Posted December 23, 2016 (edited) Ashwin being cheeky? “I’d like to dedicate this award to my family. I’d like to thank ICC and most importantly my team-mates. I’d also like to thank the support staff for our success. We’ve had a great transition ever since Mahendra Singh Dhoni hung up his boots. A young captain has taken over, we fell on the right track, and we now have a new bunch of boys.” Edited December 23, 2016 by Mosher express bowling 1

As it is based on the performance of a certain period, the " ICC year ", 3 of the picks are justified. But Steve Smith should have been picked over Root as he averaged 71 to Root's 58 in this period. Generally speaking, deKock is better than Bairstow , Stokes is an obvious choice, Cook is a 'can be chosen / can be replaced' type opener. Kohli, Smith and Rahane will challenge the chosen Root, Williamson, Voges in a general modern day test team, although not exactly relevant to this discussion.
