I dont understand how Jadeja is in the ODI team.  His 2016 ODI stats are crap.

Kohli being named captain of odi team is also baffling.He was also named captain of wt20 2016 team..Whats wrong in Steve Smith or Morgan.??

As it is based on the performance of a certain period, the " ICC year ", 3 of the picks are justified.

 

But Steve Smith should have been picked over Root as he averaged 71 to Root's 58 in this period.

 

Generally speaking, deKock is better than Bairstow , Stokes is an obvious choice, Cook is a 'can be chosen / can be replaced'  type opener. Kohli, Smith and Rahane  will challenge the chosen Root,  Williamson,  Voges in a general modern day test team, although not exactly relevant to this discussion.
