Does anyone know how to get the test batting average of all non Asian players ( i.e from ENG, NZ, RSA, AUS, WI, ZIM) in Asian conditions (i.e. IND, PAK, UAE, SL, BANG)?

 

I've seen the following posted in another forum although I cannot verify its accuracy. It's the Test batting average of Asian players in countries outside Asia.

Thanks but the first table doesn't seem right. The numbers in the matches played and runs column look far too low?

The no. of matches/runs seem low compared to Asian bats outside Asia but are accurate.

Very interesting. I guess this is partly because there are only 3 main Asian test sides (4 if you include Bangladesh) hence fewer matches played on their soil. Of the recognised greats Kallis and Lara stand out. Ponting does not.

Limiting the list of non-Asian batsmen to minimum 1500 runs scored whittles it down nicely.  Surprised to see Stephen Fleming and Darren Bravo in there.  I expected Andy Flower and Chanderpaul to have better numbers - I guess there were a couple of series where they just dominated us that I remember disproportionately.

Of the 8 Asian batsmen averaging 45+  in tests outside  Asia ( excluding Zim )  ....6 are Indian.

 

Out of the 4 Asian batsmen averaging 50+ in tests outside Asia...all are Indian.

 

This is why Indian test batsmen are considered  the best in Asia.....they know how to adapt to and succeed in  different conditions apart from home-like ones.

It also shows that when an Indian batsman conquers away conditions (50+) he ends up being an ATG.

 

A non Asian doing well in Asia doesn't necessarily translate into ATG status.

Remove BD from the asian team list and you will see a massive difference in the list.

Also, there are 3 top Asian teams compared to  5 top non-Asian teams .

 

There is bound to be more non-Asian batsmen

I can't seem to work this on stats guru - the option to sort by batting average disappears. Would be great if someone could redo the non Asian list with min 1500 runs and removing Bangladesh.

Thanks BG. All feels a bit unsatisfactory with hardly anyone with a tally above 2000 runs. Lara only 3 tests in India. Kallis is always at the top of any list you care to make...very impressive.
