Common sense would have been to look to defend even if he got out it was okay but he was overconfident and tried to drive the ball forgetting it was a new ball and starc can sing the ball in.

Doesn't matter much how you play an unplayable ball. Yes should have looked to defend it but wouldn't have saved him.

Ok, my bad. Was an inside edge. Maybe he wanted to show he is batting on his home ground and show some bravado. But wrong place, wrong time to show that. It will cost him his place when Vijay returns and Kohli goes for 5 bowlers.

Actually the dismissal reminded me of Mitchell Johnson dismissal of Rohit Sharma in WC semi-final after he pulled him for six.Nair and Sharma batting together would be elegance personified.Both have time playing genuine pace but suffer from shot selection.

Both Rahane and Nair should play the rest of the series. Hopefully Rahane can fight it out against spin and become a better player.

 

For our overseas assignment Rahane is a must, Nair can be played as a no.6 bat if we play the extra batsman. Nair though had failed miserably in A tours recently, so has to prove he can do well overseas. But still a better pick than sitting duck 'Tailunt Sharma'

Disappointed with both but very disappointed with Rahane for playing that shot... As the team vice-captain, he was expected to play responsibly
