A universal golden rule which works almost in every situation is "Don't fix what ain't broke". Kohli has Bradmanesque stats batting at no. 3 over the last year or thereabouts across all formats. Why change that? Are we expecting Kohli to average 120 as an opener instead of 90 odd he was at no. 3 over the last year? It's not as if we don't have choices. We have Pant waiting in the wings. Why not slot in Pant as an opener? Why change Kohli's position when he's easily the best batsman in the world batting at 3?

Kohli  is not an opener.

He is our best ODI and T20 batsman and is best utilized at No.3 in these 2 formats.

The No.3 slot has made him so successful....why change it  ?

As the other opener to partner Rohit, we need a new-age batter who can play at a high SR from ball one.....someone like Pant.
