So how does subsurface aeration work? The system is powered by a 200-horsepower machine, developed by the American company SubAir. The machine primarily functions in two modes - a pressure mode and a suction mode. The suction mode is vacuum-powered and is used to draw water out of the outfield. The machine has a capacity of flushing out upto 10,000 litres per minute. The act of drawing out the water begins as and when it rains, which speeds up the drying process. The pressure mode is used to pump oxygen to the grass, which ensures it stays healthy. The pressure mode is the default mode given that rains are not an everyday occurrence and the grassroots need fresh air regularly.

^ I remember during the IPL too,the drainage system was absolutely one of the best in the world....obviously don't remember which IPL game lol but that was probably the first time we saw how good the drainage system was especially in an Indian cricket ground.

 

surprisingly despite being one of the most historically significant grounds in India and that too with Ganguly being the head of the association,Eden Gardens is pretty poor both in terms of equipment,resources and drainage system they have from the last time I saw

This is possible because we can spend 4.25 crore rupees just to install a drainage system.But some people want to give away this money to other boards.

Boundaries too also seem to be bigger now. They were quite big yesterday, 70 plus meter straight boundaries are pretty good.
