Mystery as retired army officer goes ‘missing’ in Nepal

Quote

ISLAMABAD: A retired Pakistan Army officer has mysteriously gone missing while visiting Nepal for a job interview.

The officer, identified as retired Lt Col Mohammad Habib, has been untraceable since Thursday (April 6) from Lumbini, a Nepalese town near the Indian border and a Buddhist pilgrimage site, soon after his arrival there. He last contacted his family on Thursday afternoon and since then his phone numbers have not been reachable.

Col Habib’s family reported his disappearance to the Foreign Office after not having been able to reach him. He is feared to have been abducted, a source said.

“We wrote to the Nepalese foreign ministry about the missing Pakistani national on Friday, but we have yet to hear back from them,” Pakistani charge d’affaires Javed Imrani told Dawn over the phone from Kathmandu on Saturday.

He might've sneaked across the border into India.

Most likely sneaked or tried to sneaked into India. What else was he doing in Lumbini?

And $3500-8000 jobs in Nepal?Really?

Very weird to offer salary in terms of dollars for a job in Nepal.

Hope we have him in our custody. We can exchange him for innocent Kulbhushan Yadav who was kidnapped by the shameless ISI.

That's the idea. Rumour has it that this guy was part of the control room during 26/11.

It's one of the theories doing the rounds.

It may have some basis in reality - PakMil always likes to make a big song and dance about "their own" - this is for military and exMil only, not civilians - remember the Raymond Davis affair - where they shut down the US logistics for a few days and allowed a "spontaneous mob riot" to destroy some of the US supplies.  All because Davis shot a couple of ISI staffers who were doing "aggressive patroling".  Its a separate thing that eventually they sold their zameer as usual for $ bills.

Harder for them to do that in the Jadhav case - but they might try to trade him for this guy.   If this guy was actually involved, even peripherally, in the Mumbai attacks - he should not be traded.

So its becoming increasingly clear that the death sentence for Jadhav is a reaction to this rendition operation.   Else it would have been better for Pakistan to "prosecute" Jadhav for months to try and milk multiple press releases in "phoren" media about the Indian "spy".   Only reason they rushed a trial and announced a death penalty verdict, giving up the PR opportunities, is to try and negotiate for this over-weight gullible Paindu, who thought he was going to get paid thousands of dollars a month in Nepal by "Mark Thompson" Whitey man, for "consulting".  I mean, how stupid can you be.

Wonder what he's going to sing about in captivity.  And if he's really a big fish or just some useless low-rung officer who won't have much ISI related info.

What I find funny is that even though this guy "disappeared" before the Jadhav "death penalty" was announced, many of the Pak "media" mouthpieces are attempting to spin the propaganda as if he was taken by "treacherous India" after the Jadhav announcement.  And the Pak awaam is lapping up the tribal "patriotic" story, regardless of the facts.  Kinda like millions of Pakistanis who still believe that the "jews" are responsible for 9/11 .

Another theory floating around is that Khulbhushan Jadhav is actually dead and in order to save their backsides, the Pak army has gone ahead with this sham trial. The whole ex-Lt. Col. stuff could just be an eyewash.

Who is honestly going to pull them up about this? US? Doubt it. UK or China?

Let's be honest here, Pakistan won't simply handover Jadhav to us. He will reveal way too much info if he is ever released. Since, like Sarabjit, he wasn't a spy, they will not be willing to let go of him that easily.

IMO, the only way Khulbushan returns to India is by prisoner exchange, considering we actually do have their Lt. Col.

Unlikely that Kulbhushan is dead - he's worth more to PakMil alive.   They just want their paindu "Colonel" back.   Btw, have to say job well done by India to set him up and take this guy.  Russia/Israel level covert op.  Nicely done.  Big assist from the paindu himself though, got suckered by a weak story.
