express bowling
It is important to note that these batters are continuously talking about the " fear factor " ..... having to face deliveries which may hurt them physically. This is why bowling a few good, quick bouncers, now and again, are so important. This is why having a couple of genuine fast bowlers is important. As Hussain says here, the genuine fast bowlers test out the batsman's " ticker " ( heart ) and this aspect is not apparent to the TV viewers. Rightarmfast, Mosher and sandeep 3 Link to comment
Rightarmfast
He also mentioned helmet. Now, anyone bowling a bouncer, even at a lower pace would seem dangerous back in the days. Thats why a lot of old batsmen keep saying they havent seen any one quicker than this bowler and that bowler. Its not always the speed, there are other factors which make bowlers seem quick. express bowling 1 Link to comment

sandeep
A bit of a tangent. But if the safety evolution of cricket has allowed helmets and pads for batsmen, why not allow gloves for fielders. For all the ways that baseball is a dumbed down and "simplified" version of cricket, and the gloves cop a lot of "wussy" jibes, I'd argue that its in fact an improvement. There's no reason why fielders (and bowlers) should risk broken bones every time they attempt a stop or a catch. express bowling 1 Link to comment
