Rohan Gavaskar scored 5k runs in Ranji which is not bad when you consider hate he gets. Moreover he played over 100 matches and scored over 6k runs at avg of 44 which indicates that he was a successful batsman at domestic level.

That's itself an achievement if you don't compare him with his dad.

He wasn't terrible.  That's about all you can say.  A classic nudger, would knock the ball into gaps and make his runs the hard way.   Even got to play a handful of ODIs for India.   Decent fielder too, I remember him taking a quality C&B catch in Oz.   That series exposed his batting limitations though.   Its possible his name recognition got him more chances at the domestic level, but you can't say the same at the international level.  Very similar to Stuart Binny in a way, he only made it to the team because there was a vacancy in the team for his type of player.  And was quickly replaced as soon as a better option was available.

I was at the CT match vs Pakistan in 2004 in Birmingham, we lost a good match. Rohan played then. He wasnt great, but yes should be respected for a solid FC career

He starts well in ODI career for India but lost his way after taking Lonely wicket of Andrew Symonds on debut,

Rohan's  54 help India to post 280 At Adelaide after India were 3 down for 4 runs at one stage

Rohan and Laxman put on 118 to save India that day vs Zimbabwe VB series or so.Third team was Australia.

151 runs in 11 matches really poor for ODI

He batted 52 minutes for his 13 runs in his last ODI at Birmingham Vs  Pakistan on that day.i will not blame him because he never bats at number 7 even for Bombay why India sends him that late?

17 wickets 400 odd run game, won by Pakistan for 3 wickets
