2018 Mid-Season replacements, transfers and squad updates watch thread

Quick question on replacement.

If CSK has to find replacement for Santner, base price for Santner is 50L and actual price is also 50L,

does the replacement player base price has to be 50L (actual price) or less.

On a different note, if a player base price is 50L and sold for 1.5 CR, can the replacement player be < 1.5CR base price

or < 50L base price

I think RR can manage Smith's loss. Infact it might actually be good for them.

Short will get a long run as opener and Rahane a long run as a captain.

On the other hand I don't think SRH can cope with the loss of Warner. He was the center of the team. Now suddenly kane williamson, who would not even have played 4-5 games in the tournament, is now a permanent player. Alex Hales has almost zero IPL experience.

Starc is a big blow to KKR as well.

Foot injury rules KKR's Nagarkoti out of IPL 2018

Kolkata Knight Riders received another major blow early into their IPL 2018 campaign through a foot injury to their Under-19 pace bowling sensation Kamlesh Nagarkoti. The 18-year-old will now be replaced by Karnataka speedster Prasidh Krishna.

Cricbuzz understands Nagarkoti picked up the injury before the start of the tournament and the wary franchise had summoned Prasidh as a backup option and even played him in the two practice matches where he fared well.

Nagarkoti's replacement, Prasidh, made his first-class debut for Karnataka in 2015, picking up a five-fer against the touring Bangladesh A team in Mysore. While that remains his only first-class fixture for the state side, the right-arm pacer has gone on to feature in 19 List A games, picking up 33 wickets. He was recently a part of Karnataka's campaign in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. Prasidh, unlike Nagarkoti, isn't an outright fast bowler but his tall frame and ability to hit the deck hard makes him a promising bowler.

KKR, who invested heavily in bagging the services of the 19-year-old in this year's mega auction by shelling out INR 3.2 crore, become even thinner with their bowling resources. The franchise are already without Australian paceman Mitchell Starc, who was ruled out with a tibial bone stress, and their other lead pacer, Mitchell Johnson, had to sit out of their last game against Chennai Super Kings, with a slight niggle. All these injury concerns against the backdrop of their harrowing loss to CSK after R Vinay Kumar's fateful 17-run final over, has now snowballed into a major headache for the two-time champions.

The injury-marred franchise will hope to steer past further injuries and hope the young pace bowlers in Tom Curran and Shivam Mavi - Nagarkoti's World Cup batchmate - step up to the role.

1 week. Starts after most team have played 7 games

Any uncapped Player who has played less than 2 games can be transferred.

Thanks that means good chance for players like Aveesh, Khaleel, Ankit Rajpoot to get a team which can play them.

I wonder how willing teams will be to trade players who are aware of team secrets / plans

Players that get re-auctioned and move between franchisees also take team secrets with them

Nope. Only uncapped.

The two teams will be allowed to negotiate and buy their desired players, just like clubs do in football. What has to be kept in mind is that only those foreign players who have played two or fewer matches in the season will be eligible for the transfer.
