zen Posted August 15, 2015 Author Share Posted August 15, 2015 Just watched The Man from U.N.C.L.E. .... the movie transports you to the 60s, the era of vibrancy and rich color, and in a time where there were no GPS, cellphones, etc. The world was engulfed in cold war and villains also came in the form of ex-Nazis Overall, it is an interesting take on the TV series. And it appears as if Guy Ritchie has plans to turns this into a series as well much like Sherlock Holmes .... This series (if it happens) should be fun as well! The film has shades of Bollywood to it. It is one of the examples of how a Bollywood film would be if also made for global audiences PS this year has been good for spy movies fans - Kingsman, MI5, and The Man from U.N.C.L.E, and SPECTRE is coming up Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

I will also recommend the Telugu film "Key" which is a psychological thriller. Plot summary below ( not a spoiler ). Might be inspired but I won't be bothered. A total of nine candidates gather together in a closed room for what seems to be a special kind of a test. The invigilator (Jagapathi Babu) arrives, tells them that his company intends to select only one candidate from them based on their answer for his question. He also lays certain conditions to write the answer, which look quite simple from the outside; anyone failing to meet with the conditions will be disqualified. He leaves the people locked in the room, along with a watchman, but leaves out one important thing – he never gives them any question – or so it seems. The nine candidates first have to find the right question in order to give the right answer. Together they team up to find the question, with their analysis and expertise in their subjects. But with the countdown glaring at them and with the conditions seeming too ridiculous, their true characters begin to come out and candidates start getting eliminated. Who wins, and how does the winner find the ‘question’ is the ‘key’ to this story. It is available online in Youtube but not sure of sub-titles. Saif Ali is tasked with killing those responsible for the 26/11 attack and infiltrating Lashkar to kill Saeed The film is a mixed bag, i.e. good parts mixed with avg to bad parts. Earlier it tries to present the story in the Bourne fashion but later on loses steam esp. in the sequences in Pak To show the difficulty of the mission, the film has to show how strong and sophisticated Pak's forces are. However, this can be hard to swallow at times when you know how many bomb attacks take place in Pak and people also move around with AK-47s. And you can easily cross the border :P The film tries to be "Baby" like too, however it does not come close. As for the positives - there are no regular song and dance sequences. Songs are kept keeping the situation in mind If the film-makers had tried hard, they could have made the film more interesting. Overall, it is a time-pass film which can be enjoyed by keeping expectations low or if you like the idea of Ind entering other countries to punish the terrorists.
