Everyone has been labeling his comments kiddish, childish and I struggle to understand why.  Kohli feels that some of the players conduct was targeted at him personally. So, he took it personally as well. Australia (or any other team) doesn't get to decide the consequences of their actions. For Australia, it is "what stays on the field, remains on the field" but for other teams it might not be so. Therefore, if someone else takes it personally - it's how the other team plays their cricket. Australia doesn't get to decide what should and should not be done.

Absolutely true..Aussies don't get to decide what is right and what is not.

 

With that being said, the Kohli needs to work on his issues too.

 

Watching the press conference, it looked like he was so hurt. It was not like the screw you, I will say whatever I want to say mindset. If he is showing it outside in pressers like this, he is just giving them the satisfaction and making them to more of this to him on the field. Sometimes those sledges will work to his advantage...sometimes not. He isn't immune to them if his career is anything to go by.

 

Also from Virat's statements over the years, I get the feeling he thinks critics should be supportive of players when they go through a rough patch which is ridiculous. While valid criticism is what's needed, the job of critics is to talk about both the good and bad.
