The time for Pant to play for India has come. Dhoni can always play as a specialist batsman (giving him moar "freedom to play") in CT and Pant can keep.

I was thinking Pant should play as specialist batsman and Dhoni should keep.

Haven't seen how good Pant is with the gloves.

Both aren't used to ground fielding.

Obviously. Dhoni has done it in few matches in T20s though, when Parthiv was at CSK. Even in WT20 2007 when Karthik was keeper against SA.

If Pant was given the chance to open throughout IPL,it would have been easier to judge him and take him to CT as an opener. But but :wall:

I was criticized for saying nair fluked his way to a 300.... obviously a guy who gets a 300 in any format is good but there are better and more deserving players than him right now

Pant's ability to hit genuine pace for 6s at will, would hold him in good stead in the future.

He has sufficient time to play pace.

He is a good keeper too....as we have been seeing in this IPL.

He needs to be in our CT 17 team as keeper-batsman.

It's just bad form. He did very well for RR. Had an SR of 135 in one season.

Checks of the boxes- time to play shots, hand eye co ordination.... needs to work on his defense but obviously t20 is not the place for that... plays front of the wicket a lot too not a bad thing but when he plays tests especially in sc needs to play late too... don't think have seen a lot of that.

but overall one of the most exciting batting talents in the last 5 years

Sure but never looked convincing... if a international 300 can't give you confidence to go to a next level than you are not good enough.

looks good uncomfortable against quality pace.

He is good with cross batted shots front of the wicket... haven't seen him play a lot square of the wicket

He got injured after 300 and since come back, he has been going through bad form.

Plays the short ball decently but is a compulsive puller. Needs to change that and learn to leave some bouncers.

But he is not hurried by pace or bounce.
