The BCCI is expected to take a final decision at a special general meeting (SGM) in Delhi on May 7. A part of the board, including its acting president CK Khanna, acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary and treasurer Anirudh Chaudhry, was in favour of revoking the Members Participation Agreement (MPA) signed with the ICC.

2023 is a long time, it has 6 years in between. Lots can happen before that, its disingenuous for ICC to put BCCI in this position, BCCI had told them that they would want the CT to get over and then get to a discussion table on the revenue share but Manohar was in great haste to get it done now, the decision that i needed for 2023, its not the end of this fiscal either.

It's an empty threat. ICC knows its tournaments are worthless without india.

read what the goras are saying on social media. they are salivating at the prospect of the BCCI being brought into line. they are claiming that the revenue agreed upon as per the big 3 deal was never india's to begin with. that cricket has traditionally functioned through endowments. lots of revisionist history, lots of misplaced outrage, and plenty of the usual, borderline racist bakwaas of 'HOW MUCH MORE MONEY DO YOU GUYS WANT?!!?!! DON'T YOU HAVE ENOUGH ALREADY!?' .

 

they can't stand seeing a successful india.

 

i also love the empty threat of boards refusing to allow their players entry into the IPL...as if players are morally obligated to remaining under contract in the first place. realistically speaking, a bigger IPL simply means more cricketers going free-lance.

indians should know better, and while we all can acknowledge that bcci's administration of the game needed improvement, it makes sense to support indian cricket's interests on issues like these.

 

unfortunately, you see plenty of indians on social media talking about the BCCI's separatism and lack of 'inclusiveness'. the same thing occurs in the mainstream news media. its getting tiresome seeing ANY pro-indian opinion being termed as 'desh-bhakti', many people simply refuse to see that indian cricket is being robbed.

It is worth recalling how the 2007 World Cup in West Indies fell on its face after India made an early exit. The last thing any cricketing nation would want is a repetition of those horror days.

So that brings us to a crucial question: Why is the Committee of Administrators (CoA) pushing BCCI to select the squad? Are they worried that BCCI is hedging till the completion of IPL to announce a pull out?

If they do it prematurely, England and Australia could hit back by pulling out their cricketers from the final stages of the 2017 IPL. As per agreement, consent of parent board is mandatory for all current cricketers.

Alternately, has the COA struck an enhanced deal with ICC and now want the BCCI to honour India’s part of it?

Even as a cricketing storm gathers, it is pertinent to ask what those ICC member nations who voted 9-1 in Dubai in early April and pushed world cricket into its current crisis really carved up. Not money on the table for sure; for there was zilch there. Incredibly, they distributed among themselves future revenues, the wealth that ICC had projected they will garner over the eight years up to 2023. The only hitch is there is no money available right now, but they hope US$ 2.5 billion would roll in, most of it from India.

They have asked Bcci to declare the team immediately.

The timing of this makes coa look corrupt. Why should the bcci name a squad now after the sponsers began expresing their concern? Why is the CoA concerned about the ICCs sponsers? Thats none of their business.
