Still remember him as a promising prospect. I really felt back then that he will regularly play for India in ODI’s. He still has age on his side, 28 is not very old. yes he had a shoulder injury during fielding while he was having a dream season with 18 wickets in 3 games, underwent a surgery and after that, he was not the same bowler, was low in pace, was struggling with his action, but today saw him after a long time and he seems to be back, should play all the matches left now. Next season, he must switch to a side where he can play as a main bowler, team like HP which dont have good pacers.

Changing state sides again might make it hard for him to settle down well with another team. Here he seems to be bowling well and may be by next year he might get the role of number 1 bowler.

He can be good in ODIs and he bowls to part-time. We need a solid left handed batsman in the middle who can hit when required. #4 will suit him.

Good competiton between the two.
rkt.india Posted November 18, 2017 Posted November 18, 2017 Nitish Rana is the top run getter for Delhi with 466 runs at an average of 66, 2 hundreds and 2 fifties. tweaker 1
Cricketics Posted November 18, 2017 Posted November 18, 2017 Same pitch where Nitish Rana scored 174 and where Pant helped the team with 99, the opposition are 59-8 and will be looking ready to face the follow on. Delhi has been doing well in Ranji this season thanks to the strong performances of Nitish Rana regularly. Gambhir has backed this guy earlier and I just hope Gambhir can one day become an Indian selector as he has a good eye for selecting the best players. His selections from KKR are worth keeping an eye on as he regularly picks the best for the team instead of going after big names. I am not crazy about Pant captaining this side but him captaining under Gambhir is good because a mentor like Gambhir will keep him cool and will keep rest of the team calm. This will only make Pant learn the game and get used to not only the success which the game brings, but also will help him handle the lows and come back and perform better when he is down and out.

Sadly for him his unorthodox technique hes tagged as a LOI specialist formats hes a good fringe player at best . beetle and LORD_analyst 2

Unfortunately untill we decide to get rid of players like Rohit Sharma from test squad, we will never be able to get a middle aged or late 20s guy in our odi line up. Pandey is heading towards 30ish age and he must be considered now or they will never pick him then. Truth be told, Iyer or any youngster will always get picked ahead of Pandey for being way younger. Ideally I would like to see both, but for that we have to remove a other guy from the squad who is not pllaying in the game, Sharma, and to get Pandey in, we must remove Rohit Sharma who is about the same age. Our over fascination of not picking anyone who is getting close to 30 is annoying and stupid. Anyone who is batting well must be picked. Long term should be seen as if player can give the team 3-4 years and not 10-15 years. If Pandey can do well for India for next 3-4 years, then he must be picked.
