Before you pile on the Hate-Rohit Sharma

Yes....people will bring on that one Steyn dismissal to mock him but apart from that has always looked liked a zillion bucks even on tough surfaces before either an unfortunate brain fart or an unplayable delivery got him or some times a shady desicion.

I mean Kohli has looked pretty poor against Anderson or Pujara has got bowled against genuine pace with the incoming delivery but they have cashed in when set which Rohit has failed to do.

A guy capable of hitting 200s multiple times in ODIs or multiple T20 100s can you imagine what he is capable of when in zone in the test arena.

Too much chopping and changing and lack of a consistent run has also impacted him.

Problem is that we have to keep imagining since he has failed to do in the Reality universe of test cricket.   When he first started playing for India, I believed tests would be his best format.  But tailunt has a spectacular ability to whiff when given chances on a platter.

Thanks for understanding the post and replying without smarmy and condescending reply for a change....I have always maintained Rohit has himself to blame for squandering his chances only due to brain farts and overthinking the format...it had never to do with lack of technique or ability.  Kohli and Pujara have been supremely consistent but they do have technical flaws....Rahane and Vijay have been pretty inconsistent too but they have that one stand out innings every series for people to take notice...Dhawan too plays this blinders but he is more in inconsistent  than Rahane and Vijay.

You caught me at a weak/generous moment :p:

When someone like Shikhar Dhawan outperforms you in test cricket and that too as an opener facing the new ball, you know you don't deserve to be in the mix.    Tailunt is lucky that the likes of Karun Nair and others haven't made that 6th batsman spot their own yet.   But what's the point.  Even if he gets opportunities, he's more likely to screw it up entirely on his own more than anything else.

Ther's a home SL test series coming up, but we are unlikely to play 6 bats then.  Next is the South Africa tour.

One name that we hardly hear about is Ajay Sharma. Lets leave aside for a moment that constant rejection eventually turned him into a match-fixer. But this guy was a serial run accumulator in domestics and deserved more than just the solitary Test that he got.

Similarly couple of Maharashtra run machines called Surendra Bhave and Shantanu Sugwekar who averaged 60+ in domestics never even got a chance to play international cricket.
