Its all part of bery basics of making a team No Kohli doesn't need to curb anything, his emotions and attitude has changed the team culture from meek softies to fighting warriors. Kohli is the reason behind the emergence of a very good fast bowling attack for the very first time in Indian cricket's history. Dhoni's kaptain kewl attitude was the reason we were to so lackluster in test cricket under him, we gave up on the match even before the toss and the lazy lethargic body language of the players under dhoni was pukeworthy. We'd still be playing spinners and trundlers overseas if dhoni was still the captiain, be thankful for Kohli and his uncurbed emotions King Tendulkar and lunigirly 2

The biggest problem with Indian cricket isnlike of energy and fight . Dada started reviving fight . Kohli gives fight and energy . Love it As i said, if players are close to him, they will get the energy by him behaving that way. It adds to team spirit. However a emotion like say running to and lifting Shami/Bhuvi over his shoulders would have bigger impact in team building. Not that i expects him to do it, But its kind of soft skill that will enhance his captaincy skill. He needs to cultivate "generosity" in him.

He plenty of times runs to players high fivung them and pumping them kohli is great guy and highly respected by other players . When your leader is a true warrior and truly the biggest most courageous dude in the group . Plus is truly the best player . Others just fall in to line and want to go to war with him . It’s human nature .
ravishingravi Posted January 28, 2018 Posted January 28, 2018 We have one. His name is Rahane. But he has to gain in stature as a batsman.

Mark Taylor and Michael Vaughan were the most ruthless and aggressive captains in modern era. They didn’t talk much but could tactically work out the opposition. Kohliis very good with fast bowlers in backing them and also leads from the front with the bat. Tactically looks inept including this test where we had four guys on the boundary for Morkel coming in. Selection also, as we can all see, leaves a lot to be desired. Jimmy Cliff and Gollum 2

Won’t cling on to his decision for months not altering clear error all skippers make mistakes . But not all see it and change it quick look at this series . No Raul and Dhawan picked . Did not drag this out . Test 2 changed it after one game Rohit in no rahane . Changed this for last test no bk . Changed it and corrected error straight away there are many skippers who would not have changed it . Shown tremendous ego and stubbornness sticking by their decisions and not changing ravishingravi 1
King Tendulkar Posted January 28, 2018 Posted January 28, 2018 Tactically excellent this test . No spinner , batting first . All great calls . And great tactics . Just people on icf are ones with egos and don’t want to admit it loool
King Tendulkar Posted January 28, 2018 Posted January 28, 2018 Also lots of people don’t understand high level sport . They think it’s game of chess and move one piece here and another here yes of course tactics and selection play a part and I did not agree with all choices apart from last tests when spot on . More important is the ethos and attitude you instill in the team . Team culture . This team plays with aggression , never say die atttiide , roll up sleeves and put the work in . If lose lose with blood all over you . More important then odd tactic error which frankly all skippers do anywhere also kohli shows capacity to learn from mistakes and make better .!

Like I said, I am not one for posturing. Dada was more than that. anyhow. I wish him well. I saw Rahane captain India in last test in green conditions in decider match. I was very impressed with what I saw. But he has to justify his massive potential first. Plus for Kohli’s sake I hope, they take Graeme Smith’s advice. Kohli might get drained pretty quickly with playing and captaining all three formats.

Whole test less emotional then in first 2 . Took smiths advice and followed it to certain extent . Even smith said less emotional . But he still needs emotion and needs to be kohli but lessen it by 30 per ent at time however when we were on a roll and wickets tumbling he pumped back up to full kohli . And I think that was right tactic . Boys were like wild dogs after the kill and their leader was whipping them up , saffies hates it , intimidated them when collapse was on , created fear in saffies .
putrevus Posted January 28, 2018 Posted January 28, 2018 How is Vaughan a great skipper, he won one freaking against Aussies at home so he comes a great skipper. Why are people hell bent on curbing Kohli. He is great because of it.It does not matter if he was captain or not he is that exuberant on the field. He leads from front and unlike other Indian captains he is not a failure as a batsman after becoming a captain.

Still, I was pleasantly surprised he didn't drop Pujara for the last Test.
